Been wanting to go here for a while since it's so close to me. Had the Torta Milenesa and it was very good. I also tried the Chile Verde wet burrito and it was good as well. All three salsas were good, but I especially liked the verde and the mild red, both had a really great flavor, hotter red was fine flavor-wise but the spice level was nice. Will definitely go back to try more. Everybody there was very nice and he... View all feedback.
What Nikole lanoix doesn't like about El Matador Authentic Mexican Food:
I ordered the carnitas , which were over cooked and crunchy. I didn’t receive the side that came with my order until I asked for it. My daughter’s chicken taquitos were unseasoned. We watched the waiter give good service to other tables and offer dessert, which we weren’t offered. View all feedback.

This is five stars for a little Mom and Pop neighborhood place with delicious food. Can't really ask for more. The proprietor(s replaced the old Mijares East, and the place is about the same. This was my first visit. I had the mole enchilada with extra rice, skipping the frijoles. The mole was sensational but the enchilada was a little brief. Next time, I'll have two enchiladas. They were different from what I was used to, some cooked vegetables inside (I think I saw tomato and green pepper, but not too much . Yes, there will be a next time, and a next, and a next. Friendly service. Substantial take-out clientele but plenty of tables to eat, inside and out. I always suggest paying cash in these little places so that the banks don't get their 6% juice (they do more than wet their big beaks! .
I'd give it 6 stars if I could! The best Mexican restaurant I've ever visited: my family visited this place after walking Descanso Gardens just looking for something to eat, and I'm glad we did. I ordered enchiladas with chicken and chorizo. I've made all types of enchiladas but I've honestly never thought of doing that. Rice and beans were tasty too and there was a pretty big portion size. Even my little sister-who was complaining we weren't getting pizza-was actually really happy to eat her cheese enchiladas from the kids menu. She even said it was like a new form of pizza so it must've REALLY been good. All 5 of us liked our dishes, the service was fast, and they even offer outdoor dinning. Bathrooms were modest and clean. The only thing I didn't care for were the paintings and actual theme of the place, but that is taken with lower consideration than the food and service. Definitely will be coming back here<3
Waiting for a bus, decided to give it a try. Just needed a snack so I got a plain carne asada taco. It was so tender, delicious, and came out hot. Plus they added chips which was nice. Staff very friendly and bathroom very clean
Best wet burrritos ive ever tried. Also if you are looking for a healthier meal the chicken breast with beans and rice , lettuce is bomb too.
