Saw this place on trip advisor and thought we'd give it a try. Went for an early supper andnit was pretty quiet but by the time we left it was fairly busy. They do take reservations. Diner type setting and food. Caesars were delicious. View all feedback.
What wigsy doesn't like about Bay Street Cafe:
My partner and I went to this restaurant for dinner one evening and thought the food was delicious, but we felt that it was a bit on the expensive side for the portion sizes. We tried the Pickerel Dinner and the Fish Tacos, and really enjoyed both dishes. The server was extremely welcoming and attentive. View all feedback.
We had the worst dining experience ever at Bay St Cafe. The Food took over an hour and wasn't good or hot when it arrived. Guests who were seated well after we were dined paid their bills and left before we had our meals. When one of the meals was made incorrectly the waitress proceeded to pull apart the sandwich and pick off the incorrect item with her hands in plain sight. The Manager wouldn't come out of the kitchen to talk to us until we threatened not to pay our bill. Wait staff was ok at the beginning but then once we had complained pulled attitude beyond belief. Two of the darlings basically yelled at my spouse not to come back as we were heading out the door. Rest assured there is No chance of that ever happening. As a cottager in the area we try to always support the local economy and as such have created friendships with some of the town business owners. They concurred with our experience and agreed that most of the locals know better than to go there. Seems their business exists on the unsuspecting and uninformed tourist and cruise ship clientele. Save your money and time and don't even bother going here unless of course you like overpaying for lousy food and being treated poorly!
Very disappointing, seems no heart in the food. Ordered salad, but was not fresh, muscles were not good, French fries were very greasy but Great view of harbour. Waitresses seemed very sweet and kind. We were not charged for the food we returned.
We went for lunch on a Wednesday in the summer. It was busy but we were seated quickly. That was the last we received any service. We had to find someone to ask 3 times over the course of 40 minutes before even receiving a booster seat for my 2 year old, and then another 10 minutes plus another request for service with still no server, no drink order, no menu. After a total of 50 minutes and 4 requests we simply walked out, which I'm sure went unnoticed as well. My 2 year old was hungry and miserable at that point. Very disappointing as the menu did look good and everyone around us was being served it seemed.
We had a nice French onion soup and a really cool bloomin onion which we see rarely of these days. So it was good and greasy, need 4 to share it. The rest of the meal was decent and the staff decent and timely with a good view of the water. Everyone at our table enjoyed it. I would go again.
My family and I have visited The Bay Cafe annually for a while now. Although the restaurant does offer a beautiful view of the bay and nice outdoor seating, the food and service has always seemed to disappoint me. Their menu does offer a good variety of food choices, however when it comes to the actual food, it lacks flavour and quality. The service is always lacking as well. Servers always seem to be overworked and stressed out while the restaurant is completely empty. Very unusual. Some Positives from the Bay Street cafe do include their crab cakes and lobster mac and cheese. Seriously delicious! As for a dishe to stay away from: The surf and turf. Horrible horrible horrible deal for what you get. Maybe a 2 ounce steak with a small lobster tail. RIP OFF!
