The waiter didn't speak English (which of course is not a problem and I don't expect nor demand it), but if you couldn't make yourself clear (e.g. you would like a table for 2; you would like to see the menu; you would like to order x, etc) within about 3 seconds, the waiter would just wave you off and move to the next table.
