The food was very good and well priced for today's restaurant market.tge service was fast and very polite. I actually went alone while waiting for two others to join me and their accommodation for this was unquestioned like I have had at other restaurants. Very pleasant experience. Highly recommend. What Shelby Tommy doesn't like about Mel Dog's Cafe:
I have eaten at Mel dogs Cafe before and took the rest of my family there for the first time today. Food was still really good but the service was sad. There was a place to sign in and it stated the counter was not open seating, so we signed in and waited while a couple that came in after us seated themselves there and we were made to wait with no welcome from the staff. Every waitress had an attitude while taking ou... View all feedback.
Local greasy spoon, one of the local audio tint places recommend this place since i was waiting for my car. Walked over around 11, a few empty tables, and took a min to be acknowledged but once I was I was sat right away. Sat at the counter, got my drink right away and choose my menu item fairly quick. After pushing my menu away it took a few mins for them to take my order. Food came out pretty quick (breakfast burrito)... it was smaller then I was expecting for 3 eggs, but I was ok with the smaller portion. The flavor was alright, not seasoned at all. The home fries needed salt. So over all your typically greasy spoon.
Great breakfast place in East Elk Grove. Tasty food, solid service, and very nice people..
Best place in town for all delicious foods, besides roadhouse! Star Gen all around!
Edit to include second attempt at this establishment: Check Maps for hours. Showed open til 3 on this nice Monday afternoon. Drove across town looking specifically for a hot dog lunch. Arrived to an empty parking lot. Business is closed. Imagine my frustration at this point!!! Business hours on the door list Tuesday-Saturday 7a-2p, closed Sunday. No mention of Monday at all. The map hours reflected 7 days a week from 7-3. It seems like this is one business in EG that I will be unable to support at any time as I can never seem to get served here. Good Luck to the rest of y’all!! Couldn’t tell you what the food was like because I never got to a table. I stood inside the door near the big sign that said “wait to be seated” but after I spent 10 minutes waiting, still not one server even so much as looked toward the door. Then another couple came in…. And then another as well. Here we are, all standing here waiting, and being ignored. That was when the gentleman from the 3rd group to walk in notices a sign in sheet and added his name to it, never mentioning it to the rest of us obliviously awaiting customers in line ahead of him. By the way, when have you ever seen a restaurant with a sign in sheet for seating?? When one member of their staff finally noticed half a dozen people standing there, still zero acknowledgement. I always try to find new local businesses to support and I had plenty of time to sit and enjoy this place but instead, left to find someplace that actually wanted my money that’s a whole other story and ended up late to my next appointment due to the 25 minutes I wasted here. Can’t tell if the food was good or not, Only that I won’t be returning to find out.
There is a thin blue line flag prominently displayed. The service was hit or miss, some of the staff seemed annoyed with your presence, some were extremely kind and helpful. We were sat quickly and food came out at a reasonable time, but we also arrived very early in the morning. As we were leaving we saw people waiting quite a long time to be seated. The food was nothing special, a decent breakfast but not unlike something you could whip up at home. It was decently priced, but the portions reflect what you pay. Overall, I think there are better spots to visit that will beat out this place in every way.
