The place, location and history of this Parisian icon are very appealing especially as it is still very vintage like back in the old days. The reception is excellent, the salons and personnal extremely nice, but the food is not at the level of exceptation.. it s a brasserie menu it s very well done but nothing wahoo really : my preference goes to the crab and the praline souffle : l agneau and the ris de veau were just ok ; the cheese plate was super disappointing, no choice, small portions with salad in a corner, let s be serious about cheese, we are in France ! Anyway the pb is not really there anyway, real pb is the kitchen and service organization : too much waiting and attention to details (empty glasses, no intercourses, bread,..). Better communication from kitchen to staff and tables would probably make the experience much better with little effort as all the rest is nicely done. Not ready yet to get starred but the poace has so much potential and the experience of one dining in a saloon is worth the experience anyway. So GO once and try a saloon.. for the experience, but that s it..
We dined at Laperouse as part of a travel group while in Paris. The building and restaurant have a long and interesting history, which the restaurant manager revealed to us during appetizers. The wait staff were attentive and diligent, and the food was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a good and historical place to dine.
The premises of this restaurant is very cool. Book one of their Chambre Separeé for a different restaurant experience and ask one of the staff to tell you the history of the place. The food and wine was really great as well.
Go if you want to eat in the oldest betting restaurant. but prepare yourself to pay dearly for such a privilege for a reasonably good food (but rather basic, nothing exceptional) and a fairly basic service as well.
