Nice experience! The food was solid- had the seared foie gras (excellent), the beef tartar (not great as it was barely seasoned) and fish (yum). Service was superb- our waiter was so attentive and friendly. The setting was lovely- we chose to eat outside but for colder months, the interior looked very pretty. What Michael H doesn't like about L'Escargot Montorgueil:
Based on Rue Montorguel, restaurants have to be very good (because of competition from the numerous other restaurants nearby) or are more tourist traps able to survive because the food street has so many visitors. Not sure where L’Escargot fits in that but I suspect it leans to the later. Full, early on a Wednesday evening, we had to wait without guidance to be seated before finding a spare table ourselves. I go back almost every Sunday because I love the formula that changes all the time and the friendliness of the staff whose oliver and I appreciate the formula that changes the hamburgers from almost all the restaurants on the street.
