What RebeccaChotard doesn't like about Thierry Marx La Boulangerie:
Josephine on avenue Marceau has become Thierry Marx. But the staff are the same: so still extraordinarily slow and unfriendly. Prices have gone up and my café crème had no crème and was cold. Tables not clean in spite of there being nobody in the seating area. Disappointed. View all feedback.
Determined to visit a real boulangerie while in Paris, I scouted out a couple of places to try. Admittedly, I was a bit skeptical about this one, as it’s part of a local chain. Nonetheless, I gave it a shot. OMGoodness! Talk about wonderful. Honestly, I think they make the best Kouign-Amann I’ve ever had. And they were petite, which made them all the better. I bought a variety of items, and each met or exceeded my expectations. I compared this one to another place I tried (smaller, “Mom Pop” bakery that was highly recommended in all the high-end magazines” , and this one eclipsed the other by a landslide. If in Paris, be sure to put this on your “must visit” list.
This place was right next to our hotel and decided to try one day .... it became our official breakfast place after that. The staff were very friendly. There was a bit of a language barrier but they did everything possible to help us out, it was really great. The food was delicious. The croissants were delicious, the coffee really good, the place really cozy, the desserts delicious ... I mean, we really liked this place. They have a center table with Vespa stools which the kids really like (picture attached). Just a great a great and relaxing place for great coffee, pastries, baguettes, and few salads. If you are around the area go and visit, you won 't be disappointed.
Had heard of and seen reviews of this place and it lived up to expectations. Worth the trip and price, service was great. Loved the Vespa seats , something different .
I went there a first time to discover the famous marx thierry breadmaki. And as I liked, I made several people discovering my surroundings who also enjoyed it.My favorites are tsukiji and chelsea. breadmakis are served in a pre-discovered roll in 2 or 4 following the chosen roll and are prepared in front of the customers. I also like the vanilla flanean (picy and creamy) and hot soups. What I did not like:- I bought a really delicious apple sock once with a good styling and apple pieces. another day, I took one but it seemed resentful and the forage was disappointing and without pieces (nothing to see with the 1st.) what great disappointment!- the staff is welcoming except a person who always serves without a smile and without a friendliness. Too bad! it spoils the enthusiasm of the customers.- the prices are quite expensive (especially pastries) and if you ask for a formula (soupe and sandwich) it costs the same price as taken separately, and no drink included, it is in addition! when a real sandwich-dessert-boisson formula?- and finally, big disappointment when returning to this bakery to taste it around 4:30-17h: more pastry! only a few pastries. However, it's time to find a good pastry to enjoy! I don't know if it's usual because I'm not going to try it anymore because I'm afraid I'm not gonna find anything...The bakery frame surprises with its original decor (a few seating places on scooter seats.) personally, I prefer classic seats (against the wall.) there are also high places on high stools. It's not very big so it's better to come early on the noon if you want to eat on the spot.In the toilet with the black walls squared chic, I discovered the 1st faucet-drier!!!
When marx opens a bakery, we want to go for a ride, see. We've seen, are Marxian aphorisms on the walls indispensable? I'm not convinced. A classic-traditional ham-beurre, well but it's not out of the norm. The maki-style sandwiches are much better, but the higher prices, around €7. The lemon pie is quite common. Maybe I was in the mood that day.
