Societe de Boulangerie de Rennes

We went to this boulangerie most mornings to grab breakfast. Delicious baguettes. Their hot chocolate is dark and rich. It was our favourite boulangerie. Prices were reasonable.

I’ve always had breakfast here at some point while staying in the area. I note that coffee is now served in nice china mugs opposed to takeaway polystyrene cups, so that’s a definite improvement. The croissants here are delicious and so flaky and buttery and some of the best that I’ve had in Paris.

A lovely bakery that churns fresh breads and pastries daily. When I first discovered this bakery it had a great breakfast deal for a coffee and pastry. It seems they have now increased their prices but are still reasonable.

This is as real as it gets. Set right in the heart of Le Marais, you 'd be forgiven for expecting this little boulangerie to be flashy and expensive BUT IT 'S NOT. With a steady stream of locals and passers by constantly queuing at the counters... something must be going on... Turns out, this little gem is just doing what it always has done... baking fresh bread for the masses and little pastries and cakes for the weak. There 's nothing touristy here for the foreigners, just 'supplies ' for the locals. And that 's the beauty. Come on in and experience Paris as the locals do. Grab an espresso (1.50 EUR) and a Tarte Citron or MilleFeuille (4 EUR), stand at one of the tables, listen to the raucous French banter, observe the many fashions being worn by the shoppers and pretend for a moment just a moment that you 're a local. We stayed in Le Marais for a week and hardly left the apartment without first popping down to Boulangerie de Rennes for a quick pastries fix. 15 minutes a day is all it takes... Well worth visiting.

We stayed nearby and would start our day with a trip to this boulangerie. The plain and almond croissants were amazing, as was the chocolate torsade! Coming hear daily was a highlight of our trip!
