Gallina - Paris

Words cannot describe how delicious our meal was. We privatized the restaurant for our wedding reception, and Mikael helped us every step of the way, even receiving a package for us. The food was to die for- we had the roast pig, chicken, pork, ... pretty much everything on the menu for 17 people. It ended up being way too much food but every single person who was there raved about the food. A MUST TRY. I am drooling just thinking about the food! And the bartender, Christian, was excellent- mixed wonderful cocktails and made sure everyone had a drink at all times. The DJ spun the right songs... Please go and eat at Gallina!! We love you guys! can't wait to visit again!

After having read many good reviews about this place i decided to try it. The truth is that i am not so impressed! the atmosphere is very cold with very simple decoration but hey who cares i am here for the famous chicken, so i ordered the full chicken with purée and corn, no doubt the puree was amazing so was the corn and special herbal sauce but the chicken was half cooked with blood, so we complained and the waiter immediately replaced it with another less cooked chicken!! Hey this is a chicken restaurant so such mistakes are not acceptable! The guess check average is 20€ (photos attached)

A small place at Canal St. Martin, a manageable menu, a nice view on vessels passing a lock: it would all come together to one great food place if we just didn't get that feeling that things were only at half. The interior: neither minimalistic, nor cosy. The bar: not higgledy piggledy but not clean. The burger: not a real burger (cold meat), not a simple sandwich. The staff: neither really attentive, nor fully absent. The 1/4 grilled chicken and the mashed potatoes were good. Nevertheless we left the place with the feeling, that we fell in love only halfway. Enough to come back? Probably not.

So, where to start. by padron peppers, cooked and seasoned to suit? by the 3 (big) jerk chicken looks marinated with Jamaican and accompanied by rice, red beans, sweet potato in the oven (divin!) and yogurt sauce (diviiiin too) ? by the very good red wine (carte reduced in wine) and the adorable and caring waitress? (yes, she dinees in her corner at 9:00 while being available and while doing her job correctly and then?). I was sad, very sad to have finished my plate. very good value quality price.

It ended up being too much food, but every person who was there was delighted with food. To try. I'm swimming only by thinking about food! and the bartender, christian, was excellent - mixing wonderful cocktails and making sure everyone was taking a drink at any time. The dj's got the good songs. Please, go eat at gallina!! We love you guys! I look forward to visiting again!
