Limited selection. Decent knowledge of wines. Excellent deportment. Willing to take the risk for you to suggest a wine. Food is essentially an accompaniment. Discreetly located off Place des Vosges it serves beautifully many purposes and if you get it off the crowds slide it can be a refresing experience. It was a rainy August evening and we reached Paris from the abipodes for a visit to Place des Vosges and Assemv=blages served us elegantly.
My daughter and I were staying in an apartment near and wondered into the bar to look at the attractive design. Struck up conversation with owner and chef. Tasted some wine and the owner gave us a tour of the rest of the place he'd recently renovated downstairs. He was incredibly warm. We are very opinionated as far as our taste in wine, he turned us onto a vintage Pic Saint-Loup which was absolutely incredible. We returned the following evening, sat outside and enjoyed more wine choices, lovingly prepared food and the warm company of the owner once again. Magic!!! Don't sleep on the pate'.
