We went to Smutje when visiting family in Papenburg. Had quite a bit higher expectations based on the reviews here - the service was friendly but I thought the prices were quite high for "home style" meals (mainly different types of fried white fish). A classic in Papenburg, if you want to have good fish prepared according to classic ingredients, I can only recommend this restaurant, I am already a good dozen times there and look forward to visiting the fish house again and again when I am in Papenburg. The friendly welcome and the great service are always accommodating.
We wanted to visit the Smutje fish house a few days before and had to book 4 days in advance as it was full on Saturday. But waiting was absolutely rewarded!

Good seafood, nice sea-themed interior and a warm and friendly service makes this a place worth visiting.
Good but really expensive "day´s fish". Price not mentioned beforehand. Otherwise food was good and really big portions.
