The family who owns this restaurant is fantastic and their pizza is even better! We had such a great time during our first dinner that we made sure to dine at Calicanto again on our last night in Panama. The seafood pasta and house red wine were also delicious. The atmosphere is lively and inviting, and even as pizza enthusiasts from New York (our 10-year-old son even noticed the leopard spots on the crust!), we can attest to its quality!
This was my third visit to the restaurant and once again Tomas provided excellent service. Our group enjoyed the Calicanto Pizza, a regular pizza, pasta carbonara, and eggplant Parmesan. We will definitely be returning every time we are in Panama.
I have been to over 30 countries. I always eat the local cuisine the entire trip. I also eat pizza for a meal as it is served in every place on earth. This was better than most pizzas in the states and is the best pizza I have ever had outside the states (never been to Italy). Family owned and operated and you can taste the passion in the food and see the passion in the chef.
My husband wanted pizza for his birthday, so we decided to visit this restaurant because we wanted to keep things simple and just order pepperoni pizza and a salad. Our cravings were satisfied at this place. The service was great, with a very nice lady serving us. The pizza arrived promptly and tasted even better than the pizzas we usually have back home. We were happy that we chose the small size pizza for the two of us, as it was still a generous portion that we managed to finish and thoroughly enjoy.
