Was one of the best places for food (maharashtrian) in goa, one of the most underrated places, unfortunately closed down now!(correct me if I am wrong) Gets a 4 star from me . If you find this place any where else in India just go ahead and try it.
We ended up here after trying our luck at Viva Panjim (Thanks to the wrong information on Zomato. They are closed on Sundays). Jayaa's Mh 09 (which specialises in Maharashtrian Cuisine) was the only place we could afford to go at that juncture as we had to be at the airport within 2 hours time to be able to catch our flight on time. Although a decent place, we were yet skeptical about having lunch here as this place was totally empty. We finally followed our heart and ordered whatever we could for we had no other option. <br <br Based on the fact that something would be worth eating we ordered a Veg Taat (Thali Plate), CKP Fish Taat, Kolhapuri Chicken Sukka Taat and Malvani Taat. Until the food came to us, to kill time, we also ordered Sabudana Wada (Sago patty), Batata Wada (Potato Patty), Gul Poli (Jaggery Poli), Sol Kadi (A Maharashtrian specialty made from Kokum (sour fruit special to the region), Coconut Milk) and Lassi. Lassis were not at all good. Sol Kadi was too sour for our taste. Gul Poli was Okayish, Sabudana Wada were crispy but oily and Batata Wada were nice. So far, the fare was okay, nothing to boast about. <br <br Then came all the Thalis. One bite from our respective Taats and we (and our taste buds) were under the influence of never ending FoodGasm. Every element on each Taat was a winner. CKP Fish Taat consisted of two Polis, one fried fish with green marination, potato vegetable, prawn curry, coconut garlic chutney, mango pickle, sol kadi, koshimbir (salad) and Prawn Khichdi. Enough to satiate hunger and Tasty to satiate soul. <br <br Kolhapuri Chicken Sukka Taat consisted of dry chicken, egg curry, potato vegetable. pandhra rassa (kolhapuri chicken stew without chicken), 2 chapatis, rice, salad, pickle. Enough to satiate hunger and Tasty to satiate soul.<br <br Veg Taat: Aamti (Dal Lentil Curry), potato vegetable, vegetable with gravy, papad, a sweet, 2 chapatis, rice, salad and mango pickle. Enough to satiate hunger and Tasty to satiate soul. <br <br Malvani Taat: Two chapatis, spicy chicken curry (portion was three times the non veg received in other taats), rice, sol kadi and potato bhaji. Enough to satiate hunger and Tasty to satiate soul.<br <br We simply thank Zomato for misguiding us because had it not been for this portal, we would have never stepped inside this Modesty and be rewarded with absolute Sumptuousness of Maharashtrian Cuisine.<br <br Staff and the Manager are very friendly, helpful. Portions are superb enough for the price you pay. After having eaten all of the above we payed nothing more than 2500 for the awesomeness. If this worries you about the quality, don't be because they prepare everything from scratch from the ingredients of good quality. You got to wait for at least 20 minutes before the food is served. Stick to taats, that is where Jayaa's MH 09 Heart lies. <br <br It loses 0.5 just because they had no puran polis and rest of the stuff was strictly average.
