While some dishes received mixed reviews, such as the katsu and salmon salad, other dishes like the gyoza and sukiyaki set were highly recommended. The service was efficient but lacked some cleaning attention. Despite smaller portions and slightly higher prices, the food quality was generally praised as a unique and authentic Japanese experience. Overall, Yayoi creates a fast and interactive dining atmosphere that is perfect for those looking for a modern twist on traditional Japanese cuisine.
I used to come here a lot. Haven't been for 3 years, and it's gone downhill. The katsu was terrible today, smaller and tougher meat, plus more like a Chinese dish rather than Japanese katsu. The salmon was rubbery (look at the photo) and not the right cut for sashimi. No bueno. Sorry guys two thumbs down.Menu and ordering is great and food came out super quick. Price is alright. Kids meal legit. Just not really Japanese food, and not very tasty.
We came during lunch time and almost 1pm on Saturday. There were plenty of seatings so no wait time at all. Each table has a tablet and you can order straight from there without talking to anyone. The food definitely got a bit more pricey compared to a few years ago when we were here, but the food was still good. It came super fast right after we ordered.I highly recommend getting the gyoza with wasabi mayo. Very unique and it's mildly crispy. Very tender bites to get started with the meal.I got a sukiyaki set. Just the right balance of sweetness in the sukiyaki, it comes with an onsen egg and you get to pick seaweed salad or hijiki salad I recommend the later one). Overall a good meal, but food is getting more and more expensive.
Yayoi has consistently improved in quality over the years. The food is fantastic overall, but the standout dish for me has to be the gyoza. It is hands down the best gyoza I have ever had, especially the one with wasabi mayo. I would rate the food 4 out of 5.
Food was very good and presentation is great, but you may find at the end of the meal that the portions were a lot smaller than you initially thought. There are a lot of authentic touches, like serving mustard with tonkatsu, or grated daikon with grilled fish.Food: 4/5
I love the set-up. You'll be quickly seated and complete your order via touch screen. It has pictures of everything and it queues up the price as you order. You'll have a chance to make adjustments before you send your request into the kitchen. From there, you sit back and wait for your food. I have not tried everything on the menu, but I have tried a sample from every portion. The sushi is good, especially as an appetizer. They don't have a wide enough selection to make it a sushi only night. I like the Yayoi as I end up with a selection of items. Don't forgot to add some tea onto your order.Service is limited since you do all your ordering via screen. That being said, there is staff available and ready to help and/or answer questions. They are also pretty quick from when the food is ready to when it is delivered to your table.Needless to say, I recommend!
