The food was outstanding! The lamb hot dogs were fantastic! The desserts were incredible as well! I tried the coconut cake with ice cream, and it was so large that it could easily serve three people! View all feedback.

Lots of hype about this rather mediocre restaurant. I ordered a specialty , beef stroganoff. Tasteless, bland and anaemic looking meat which I presume was supposed to be beef. The sauce tasted like watery canned gravy. The green beans and carrots were soggy and equally tasteless. Very surprised by the number of guests there! A very cozy location that has fantastic food and service. Most everyone there has been there for years and years and... you get the idea. They treat you like family. We started with the shrimp cocktail, and my goodness, whoever had to put those shrimp down are heroes! They were that big! For supper I had the osso buco which was divine and my better half had the breaded pork chops. Soooo much food on those plates. I liked taking a bit of the sauce with osso buco and adding it to a spoonful of polenta. I'm not sure I actually chewed. When I looked over, the pork chops were gone. I think he was picking his teeth with the bones, he was so satisfied. In the end we did get dessert. A lovely creme bruleé chilled on the bottom and toasty on top, with a fantastic whipped cream on the side. If you haven't gathered from this review yet I will help. John Henry's is a lovely place to fill your spirit and tummy. It's up to you to find it. *wink
Great to have the return of John Henry's post pandemic.... remodeled patio and relocation of the host desk to the main entrance a plus....food consistent over the years however current menu prices are a bit high for the quality of food served. Service was good and attentive.....cocktails were generous but no caffe wine available....be sure to call wellin advance for a reservation. John Henry's is a good choice for a special occasion celebration. Enjoy

Service was good but food was sub-standard. Three steaks had to be sent back for being overcooked while I ate saltimbocca with no depth of flavor. Carrot sides were over boiled looking like mush. Two appetizers arrived 10 minutes apart after having to ask on status. The place was recommended by close friends who had been here in the past but based on experience I would never go back.
I expected a better experience, but it was sub-standard. The drinks were great. The artichoke appetizer was oddly prepared (Chef, don 't cut an artichoke top so short that I can 't grasp the leaves and eat it like one normally does). The Caesar salad was flat, bland, no garlic, and no anchovy flavor, no flavor of anything even remotely like a real Caesar salad (Chef, look for recipes for authentic Caesar dressings). One dish was very good, but another dish was just plain awful. Deserts were unremarkable. Service was fine, but with food like this, it doesn 't matter. We expected much better.
