What a wonderful find on an idle Saturday afternoon in Palermo. Love Caffè Morettino. Love the old world feel and genuineness. Stop in!

If you want to live Palermo as an insider would, you cannot miss having a breakfast, a break or a lunch at the Barettino (litterally: small bar), just off Via Libertà and close to the Politeama Theatre. The Barettino is a thoroughly loved Bar of the area....and there are many reasons for this! The owner, Giuseppe, is passionate about his job and he and his team offer very high quality food and drinks. In the morning, my personal objective is to reach the Barettino to have the best Cappuccino and honey croissant there is in town! They also serve fabulous pastries, amongst which you 'll find a delicious classic apple cake and typical sicilian morning pastries. For a break during the summer, a must is their homemade lemon granita (ice) with a simple brioche , it 's a real treat!! At lunch time, Giuseppe makes high quality homemade typical sicilian and international dishes, they are all carefully studied, have first class ingreedients and are masterfully executed. In the winter, among other dishes, he serves cumforting homemade soups and traditional oven baked sicilian pasta dishes, as well as very high quality meat and vegetable meals. In the summer, the hot soups are replaced by refreshing first courses such as vegetable coucous and cold pasta salads. The Barettino excells both for the quality of their food, and for their friendly and warm atmoshpere, for their hygene standards and for the courtesy with which Giuseppe and his team welcome and attend to their clients. There are few tables, so you probably want to go early or book if you 'd like to go for lunch.

I reco every morning to make my usual breakfast, and I must say that it was a beautiful discovery have an extensive breakfast from sweet to salty, but above all the delicious cakes made fresh to try absolutely, the cake cream of the croissants is delicious.
