This is by far the best meal we had in our time in Sicily. The restaurant is well off the tourist trail in Palermo (in new town) and all the better for it. The service was fantastic, friendly and attentive but also hilarious as their English wasn’t the best. This absolutely added to the experience and quite right that we should try to speak Italian when in Italy. The food and wine was all absolutely delicious and the setting was lovely. Highly recommend if you are wanting to get off the Tourist trail for a nice meal.
Very helpful staff, good choice and delicious food. Menu explained and wine was recommended and was very good
We ate here on out first night in Palermo and really enjoyed it. We had a reservation via The Fork and were welcomed by the owner or manager (not sure which but he was definitely the boss). As I said, he was very friendly and he helped us with the menu with some great recommendations. The grilled mixed seafood was excellent as was the pasta. He chose an excellent Nero D'avola red for us that was excellent but reasonably priced. The restaurant has an upscale but comfortable atmosphere and we really enjoyed our experience here. Ai Gradini is an excellent choice for dinner in Palermo.
I picked this place because of the excellent reviews and thought it lived up to the high praise. Great ambiance, sitting outside under the trees alongside pictures of the main sights of Palermo. Service was friendly and attentive. I ordered in Italian, but was speaking to my companion in English, and the staff used a mix of English and Italian when checking on us. The portions were enormous almost American in size. The involtini melanzane (eggplant/aubergine) antipasto was delicious and came with five pieces. We split two large pizzas, one with eggplant and parmesan and another with heirloom tomato, basil, and burrata. Both were delicious and perfectly cooked excellent crust with no burns, each ingredient on the pizza cooked for the optimal amount of time, served out of the oven. We had no room for dessert, but the tiramisu, almond parfait, and fresh watermelon all looked extremely good. At less than 20€ per person for antipasti, pizza, and beer, this was a great value. We also enjoyed getting away from tourist central and dining with a more local crowd. Online reservations are a nice plus! Whether a tourist or a local, check it out.
We arrived late in Palermo and was recommended by our host where we were staying. We were not disappointed my friend and I opted for the salmon after they bought the fish out for us to see which was a surprise the fish looked amazing before it was cooked. I can honestly say that I have never tasted salmon like it, it was delicious. The dessert was just as tasty and the house red and white were of top quality too. The service was excellent they were friendly, tentative and helpful. The price of the meal was very reasonable cannot recommend enough
