Unfortunately we only had time to stay one night, but this was a place we could stay for a week. We stayed in the apartment which had plenty of space, and was perfectly clean. The staff were friendlyand helpful. Our children loved the golf course!

The ho... read more Due to having a 7 month baby we asked whether we could take out a paella on the recommendation of the owner of our apartment which was located next door. The hotel had no problem with this. Upon agreeing a time later to collect the paella- we weren’t disappointed, it was the best paella dish I’ve had. You do need to wash and return the pan though! If we had stayed longer I would have liked to have tried more dishes from their restaurant.

The staff are friendly and willing to cook whatever you need, even myself with a shellfish allergy. I went off menu several times with Paella carne, often I mixed up the set menu of the day with the a la carte without any complaint from the waiters or kitchen staff. The food was home cooked and unpretentious the gazpacho and creme catalana being my favourite dishes of the week. The only small negative was that I did feel that there could have been a little more on the vegetarian menu as even the salads usually had bacon, ham or pate on them a cracking goats cheese salad would have been a welcome addition, however I am sure if I had asked then I would have been accommodated and even a vegetarian would not have gone hungry.

The restaurant of the Hotel Ancora is located near the Fosca beach, a very tourist place near the city of Palamós, where there are a lot of hotels and campings.... read more The restaurant of the Hotel Ancora is located near the Fosca beach, a very tourist place near the city of Palamós, where there are a lot of hotels and campings. We came here to lunch a Prawn Menu, the typical product of this city and this part of Costa Brava. This menu include anchovies with bread and tomato, grilled prawns and a fideuà, which all are typical dishes of the region. Moreover, we ate fruit cake as desert and a white wine Sumarroca. The food was very good, in fact, we come to Palamós every year (in a different place to eat this menu) and always we are very happy with it. On the other hand, the restaurant has a problem: there are too much noise in the eating-room, and the place was a bit not comfortable until 16h, when people begin to go out. Moreover we came here with our baby and she was initially uncomfortable, but after she was sleeping.

Good value and extra points for the Faulty Towers twist provided by the owner. Fun!
