What Brian Leo doesn't like about Coco Cantina Pahoa:
Was so excited for a new Mexican place in Hilo. I ordered the chicken burrito for take out. The menu says it's supposed to have rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese. There was no guacamole, sour cream, or cheese, and very few beans inside of theburrito. The majority of the filling was rice. The one positive was that the chicken that was in there did taste good. $15 for30% of a burrito. Also I was still hung... View all feedback.
I was really looking forward to a new Mexican restaurant in Hilo, so I ordered a chicken burrito to take out. According to the menu, it was supposed to come with rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese. Unfortunately, it had none of the guacamole, sour cream, or cheese, and there were very few beans. Most of the filling was just rice. On the bright side, the chicken tasted good. However, for $15, I only got about 30% of what I expected in a burrito, and I was still hungry afterward.
I enjoy getting after-work drinks here, thanks to the friendly bartenders and the incorporation of local flavors. They offer a variety of drinks that highlight local fruits and provide unique twists on your favorite mainland cocktails.
So Ono! The food and cocktails are absolutely delicious, and the service is exceptional. They also have an amazing happy hour. I will definitely be returning and I'm so glad this place has opened. I'm already looking forward to the Hilo location as well!
With indoor and outdoor seating, this is a great Mexican restaraunt to visit for a bite to eat. I went at noon, and service was friendly and prompt. We had drinks out to us nice and quick, along with terrific homemade chips and salsa. I had the chickennachos and the brunch quesadilla. The nachos were great, lots of black beans, onion, tomato and cheese. The chicken was cookedperfectly, I could only ask for smaller chopped pieces to spread over more chips next time. The quesadilla was perfectlycooked, flakey and had a good mix of meat and eggs. it comes with a lighter hollandaise sauce for dipping, which makes it agreat treat for breakfast or brunch. All in all, I would recommend you definitely stop by and try it out. They have a greatselection of drinks as well, for the alcohol- inclined.
We had a nice lunch here on a Tuesday at 1130am Very nice, clean, new contemporary spot at the Puna Kai Shopping Center in Pahoa. We dined in and sat at a table outside in the breeze way which was great! Service was fast pleasant (I didn't get theserver's name). I ordered the Chile Rellenos and the portion was generous with beans, rice and choice of flour or corn tortillasas sides. I was slightly disappointed with my entree choice as it arrived at the table lukewarm (the sides were much warmer thanthe Chile) and it wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped. I will definitely give Coco Cantina another try and it's very reasonableprice wise for the amount of food served. Looking forward to trying the other items on the menu Aloha!????????????
