I think Max Joes is the best restaurant/bar in town and love that it's down the alley! I fantastic burger cooked medium rare with homemade blue cheese and bacon not to mention crispy tater tots. The beer was cold and fresh too! Great service, clean, and good tvs for sports. View all feedback.
What Billie J doesn't like about Cj's Pub:
Classic college town restaurant. Friendly environment and nice staff. The food was not great. The Buffalo Chicken Dip had massive chunks of cream cheese not even mixed in. The bun on my burger was hard. We also waited a long time for our food. Little disappointing but expected in a small college town. View all feedback.
This place offers all the classic bar food you could want, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere has a college vibe that perfectly matches what you're looking for. The only downside is that they don't serve Coke products.
Cozy pub which prides itself on a 75+ year history. It 's small with a lot of seating great utilization of space so it 's loud. All the booths, chairs and barstools are wood. The end booths have a snuggery feel. I noted some early Cincinnati Reds/Pete Rose memorabilia. A lot of TVs for such a small place. The ceiling is very unique! Plenty of beers on tap with numerous rotating craft selections plus an interesting cocktail list. My husband wanted a margarita and it was good! I had a shock top. Along the top of the bar are chalkboards with all the beers and their ABVs listed. I had the curry chicken salad. The chicken salad itself was very good though I thought a little on the salty side. I didn 't care for the green salad part though which was all 'mesclun mix ' plus chopped tomato/cucumber. Would have been much better over crispy iceberg lettuce. I would have it again but as a sandwich and skip those greens. He had the steakburger, done medium. It was perfect. Both portions were generous and reasonably priced. Service was good and attentive. The tiny bathroom (ladies) was heated and the hot water was HOT; so important on a cold winter 's day. They are open 7 days starting at 11 am.
Have been here 2 times and ordered takeout once! Good place to go with friends. Had good experiences both times eating in. Staff is friendly. I really enjoyed my black bean burger! I also have tried the char grilled chicken salad with lemon pepper seasoning. It was delicious, chicken was seasoned well and the ranch was some of the best that I have had in a while! I noticed that the quality of the food is better when dining in. One suggestion is that they carry gluten free buns!
College beer and food place. Down an alley in an old building. It has character. Mac and cheese bites and m8 I corn dog appetizers. Waitress worked hard. Don't ask too much about the beer, they may not be old enough to have tried anything but Miller Light. I got an amazing sour beer called Rhein skill in or something. Pulled pork was terrific. BLT also excellent. Onion rings were a bit skimpy but very good. I'd be back in a minute. My date (wife) had hoped we had graduated to more elegant meals.
Good wings and salads and chicken fingers. Sorta loud but that is fine. Good service.
