Patrons rave about the extensive selection of beers and whiskeys, complemented by a diverse menu of British pies. While the service is generally warm, some interactions can leave guests wanting, particularly at peak times. Food quality can fluctuate, with highlights being the hearty pies and tasty festive drinks like hot spiced apple with rum. However, issues like unkempt tables and crowded conditions during busy periods have been noted. Overall, The Victoria offers a pleasant experience but is not without its quirks.
As the first pub in oxford we came here after a short break. fab pub and pretty decent cake. a visit worth when they are in the environment
First time, great personal, at least again on the day. this place is something of an institution, they serve a fair selection of beer and apple wines and have excellent pie and chips. with a great selection to choose from in relation to cake. really. beautiful garden back. all round one of the best pubs in oxford. Go in a few pints!
Some of the best cakes I've eaten in the age. if there was something I wanted, the option would have been for a side of the sawn maic and cremelecks. but I'm just picky here
I just asked for drinks before it restaurant. well organized for covid. signed for track and track. drinks ordered by the app on the assigned table. beautiful candle light atmosphere
Hi thanks for looking after us last night. The food and drink were fine. Pies great, chips ok. Interesting beer. Contactless ordering worked fine although mobile phone reception is only g3. Nice evening. If I could comment on your virus precautions, I felt there were...groups of customers who were not helpful. Can I suggest some changes: Generally: 1) a clear sign at least on entry from the street or garden that says wear your masks at all times when not seated. Better for everyone. People were unmasked and crowding round the bar at times. Not good for your staff. Toilets: you had done well in theory, but customers need to change their behaviour. People were pushing through to use the toilets and ignoring any distancing. To reduce the incentive for Perhaps close the urinals? Or perhaps: 2) a sign at the toilets that says clearly One person only (except in emergency). Please set the sign to vacant when you leave. 3) to cope with demand for toilets why not make them all unisex and open the disabled toilet for normal use. Hope these comments are helpful under the circumstances.
