It's a really nice Chinese restaurant in the middle of Oxford. The location is an old beautiful school building. Meals are good an authentic Chinese. So don't be shy to go and try.
Original Chinese food, great portions, good value for money. For a very detailed review see below. I've been going to this restaurant for six months or so. As a self-preserved connoisseur of East Asian cuisine, I can confidently say that it is the most original Chinese restaurant in Oxford. The restaurant is always full of Chinese customers and very few Europeans who are always a sign of an authentic menu. Most British can 't with dishes that are really delicious, they think for the glands, which is why British cuisine has won notoriety internationally. The menu is also not what you would find in most Western Chinese restaurants. Forget the endless lists of tasteless noodles and soups. Apart from some of the standard dishes anyone can try, this restaurant will prepare you hundreds of eggs, fried jelly, pork intestines and chicken gizzards in any way, cow aortas, and chicken that is fed in a degree that tests the limits even the most experienced palates. I see that most negative comments here focus on recruitment of staff and the potential freshness of ingredients. I'll do both points. Politics does not generally characterize Chinese restaurants, both in Europe and China. You go to an ethnic restaurant, not to get an ego boost. But anyway, the staff was always very friendly to me and my company, and we don't speak a word of Chinese. As far as freshness is concerned, I cannot say that it is one of the crucial characteristics of Chinese cuisine, which is why there are a large number of dishes with preserved food. The same applies to many Eastern European dishes, as many might know. It is like someone eating a juicy KFC, expecting that the chicken came from a free area farm and was fed organically won maize. So some of the ingredients may not have been made before 24h and brought to your dish, but the taste is excellent, it is naturally hygienic and safe, and it has never caused me or my friends any intestinal problems. And we always go for the dishes that really challenge Europeans like us. At the issue price it is something at the higher end, although the shares are massive, so it is a great value for money. This is by far my longest rating, but this restaurant is worth it. I strongly recommend this restaurant to Western people who want to get a taste of genuine Chinese food, Chinese who miss the food of their home country, and above all, people who just want to have a good meal. But don't go every week, otherwise you will soon develop coronary disease.
Best sichuan Restaurant I was in England, much better than in London. Very authentic and good portions. Great setting and service was top notch. Didn't feel thirsty after eating differently in London. !
Great Chinese restaurant in Oxford! Stopped by for dinner and ordered a variety of dishes from the menu: Wonton noodle soup, Choi sum, Kung Pao chicken, some hand pulled noodles, fried rice, and pickled cucumber/peanut. They were all delicious and the staff members were friendly and helpful. Majority of their menu items are Szechuan spicy, but they can adjust the spiciness. You can also order many things that are not spicy. Overall a great experience and highly recommended if you are in the Oxford area and looking for more authentic Chinese food.
