I have a different opinion regarding the comments about small portion sizes at The Cherwell Boathouse. If you are looking for a lavish feast, this may not be the place for you. However, if you prefer high-quality food in reasonable portion sizes, served in a beautiful setting with reasonably priced wines, then this restaurant is the right choice. I was treated by my beautiful girls to Mother's Day Sunday lunch, I had to begin the smoked eel that die for, followed by steamed mullet, another dish of total groom. I usually have no desserts, but the pistachio cake with Rhabarb has betrayed me and I was not disappointed, Devine!! We dined in winter garden, and although an outdoor area with sides, it was sufficiently heated, and we could enjoy the view of the river, entertained by the punt boats. I would highly recommend the food was excellent, service very well with qualified staff and we all had a very nice day
We had our wedding reception here and it was fantastic. A beautiful environment, delicious food, friendly staff and punting during the beverage reception! I'm so glad we picked the Cherwell Boathouse and can't wait to visit again. Photos of Neil Hanson
A long weekend in Oxford! We arrived this afternoon and were looking for a nearby restaurant we had luck a few 100 meters on the street was this hidden gem. Yes quite on the banks of the river an idyllic location for dinner or as it seems a party because, although we arrived early, there were 2 big gatherings all sitting ready. We mentioned the MaitreD that we had an evening appointment and had to be passed in time. Service was timely and excellent with sufficient attention and quick execution. We ordered 2 nets directly and during waiting homemade bread and herbs baked olive oil for diving, delicious. For the net we ordered the Halibut with goat cheese mange-tout and various shrimpishes, I ordered the steamed gray mullet with Quinoa picked up Veg and again different shrimpishes. Both meals were well proportional and excellent cooked very much enjoyed and tasty. Besides the Kent champagne wine, followed by Alsace wine, predominated. To follow the most important lime cake and strawberry sorbet, a pleasant experience took place. So don't miss a visit when in the area.
Our band, The Shuffles band from Bristol, was lucky to play at Cherwell Boathouse for a wedding. Stunning location, helpful staff. It was amazing. Sound levels were not a theme for our band. We would recommend! x
Nice vibe in the conservatory area. Sunday roast was amazing one of best I’ve had. Presentations of the dishes were beautifully done too.
