Seriously the best breakfast in Huntsville and SO CHEAP especially compared to everywhere. That's what Cracker Barrel tries to do. Unfortunately no longer my grandmother, but it's really like her cooking. Everything is scratched to my knowledge, and quite everything they use is grown there on the plot! We went to eat today on the referral of a friend from church who bragged on this restaurant. It was AWFUL. Food was cold. Dressing tasted like it came from Stove Top. I understand we showed at your final sitting but for the owner to come out and roll her eyes like dare us to say anything bad about her cooking because she had won awards. Just perfect southern comfort food right in Owens Crossroads. We loved the chicken n’dumplins and chicken salad sandwich. Try the homemade potato chips, yum! The desserts are to die!!! Blueberry fried pie and lemon ice box pie. Dessert options change daily so be prepared lots of choices including peanut butter pie!! Coffee was great too.
We saw it featured on Channel 48's early Sunday news drove over Green Mountain for any early lunch. A GREAT Father's Day meal! I had chicken dressing, fried okra turnip greens (w/plenty of turnips, don't forget the pepper sauce). My favorite wife had chicken livers, okra green beans. We both had cornbread fruit-flavored tea. Julie took great care of us. We enjoyed meeting Miss Wenonna, too. We will definitely return asap!
This is North Alabama's version of Loveless Cafe. It has southern country charm and great food.
Good service. Warm food. Nice menu. Cozy and friendly.
Fantastic breakfast in a unique, interesting and creative location. The ambiance and the setting really make this a special place. We can't wait to come back for dinner!
