Great food options either from the kitchen or especially from the hibachi grill. There is a wide variety of options everyone will find appealing. I recommend the vegetable stir fry. If you are ordering from there hibachi, I recommend the steaks and shrimp. The chef provides an AMAZING show and involves everyone. His personality and culinary skills can only be described as TOP NOTCH. I STRONGLY recommend reservations... View all feedback.
What Liza Blick doesn't like about Kyoto Sushi and Steak:
I'm here two more times and the food was good. The last two times I left the food was not so great. My grandmother ordered the sesame chicken and it was chewing and hard. She couldn't even cut it with her fork or barely chew it. I ordered the roasted tofu and it was so dirty even with the sauce. The role I had was pretty good. Only none of my favorite roles. This place is a gamble if you do not order Hibachi or Sushi... View all feedback.
We come here about every 3 months and the main reasons are the food and service. The food is always really good and the portions are a good size for the price. The service has always been top notch and the staff work hard. We had 13 in our party, we have been coming on December 26th for our daughter birthday for 19 years. Service was good, maybe a bit less than normal. My wife ordered white rice and the cook gave her fried rice. She let him know she asked for white and he said 'no, you ordered white rice '. He didn 't take her order to begin with and did give what she again asked for. The only other negative was the fact that they now add 20% tip on your bill. We had already tipped the cook in cash and now we have another $50 some dollars added on. That would have been nice to know before we tipped. Still only of the best in Kansas City.
Let’s just put it like this. The chefs here are here to give you a show, have a good time, and make some delicious food! Have some fun and goof off a little! As my first hibachi experience ever, I had a absolute blast! Steak and shrimp, cooked absolutely amazingly, not even mentioning the showmanship and skill shown by these guys. Lime green hat and camp hat guys were the two I got to watch. OH! By the way, weather you are currently the one being served or not, it’s an honest blast just to watch these guys work. But those two chefs, I hope to be at their table again! Not even mentioning the waiters and servers. Let’s just say, I didn’t have to ask for anything.. like.. what so ever- Portioned well, brought in at perfect times friendly faces and the list goes on! I’m still stuffed from the amazing selection they had here, and I’m STILL thinking about coming back!
This place was BUSY when we showed up around 5pm on a Friday evening. The atmosphere was bustling but friendly. We were greeted right away, though had to wait about 10 minutes to place our takeout order. Once we did we were able to walk around the neighboring shops and they called me when our order was ready. We only got sushi, but we got about 6 different rolls and every one of them was delicious. I would definitely eat here again, and would love to see what the dine-in experience is like.

If you are ordering from there hibachi, I recommend the steaks and shrimp. The chef provides an AMAZING show and involves everyone. His personality and culinary skills can only be described as TOP NOTCH. I STRONGLY recommend reservations as the restaurant can get very busy and crowded very quickly. The chicken was overcooked. But the experience was great. The fried dumplings were excellent.
