This is a very chic, clean authentic Mexican restaurant in a city full of great places to dine. The ambiance is fabulously conveyed through a modern yet regional Mexican decor. My spicy small plate of a queso something that the owner recommended was delicious. The variety of salsa was perfect too. The bar service was fantastic and happy hour was a welcome surprise. The first time. Over 90% of the menu is gluten-free. Delicious and creative dishes. It's worth trying. The special thing about this visit, Chile Enogada, was great. A large chili pepper filled with ground beef, walnuts, apples, almond slivers and embroidered with a walnut cream sauce and pomegranate seeds would be welcome in my Thanksgiving table.

AMAZING Monday Night Dinner After not wanting to get anywhere near the kitchen we venture to try a new place. Cacao was it, we always see it when grocery shopping and it always looks packed. And now I see why! Delicious Queso con Chorizo and God! That can be a meal, the mix match of Street Tacos of Cochinita and Puerco en Chile Verde was amazing! And it came with this green long grain rice that was just perfect! The quesadilla was an amazing flat burrito! Portions are Grand! Place is Health department ready, spotless Clean! And Ana, our server and owner’s daughter had this place handled like a Pro! Complementary salsa could use some work, but hey I am native Mexican so, if all other items were Flawless! That’s the least of my worries! Go give them a try! IT’S SO GOOD!
Amazing place! If you like street tacos then come here and you won’t regret it.
The area kansas city is not known for its great Mexican food. yet there are decent places in the city. I had read that cacao restaurante was good, so I made the long trip to find out. I liked it was different than the Tex Mexican fare I usually ate. it is a little difficult to find healthy Mexican food (low sodium, low trans fat). I enjoyed the shrimp ceviche (healthy product), and the mini snipers. I loved the Sangre-rita, a combination of sangria and margarita. I ordered the maul throw enchiladas (sound because no cheese) which was in order. my companion got suppe with her meal. when I tried to replace suppe for dren and rice, I got a company no, with not even a counter offer with a hit. the fried beans were very tasteful. the rice was not much better than the rice on the order. overall, I would go back sometime.
