Everything about this place is special. The welcome, the food, the atmosphere. They are only open at lunchtime, 1200 to 1400, and the clientele is local, always a good sign There was a salad and pate starter (delicious) followed by a choice of 3 beef dishes, grilled, bourginion or something with a house sauce but my French deserted me so we went grilled. There is REALLY no point ordering well done beef in France, other than to ensure you don 't get Blue!. When mine came there was half a cow on the plate, one end well down going down to medium at the super thick end. However it was so tender it could have been cut with a butter knife that I just didn 't care. My wife ordered medium, which in France equates to rare. Be warned, order rare in France you take a bite as it runs past your table. The dessert.. ...... sorry. I had to take a moment to dream. It was flan or ice cream. I chose ice cream and ordered coffee. It was like eating a frozen espresso, the coffee flavour was so intense, with little beans of coffee in it. WOW. The owner and his wife don 't really speak English but not a problem, they try, you try, a smile and a great meal follow. This felt like visiting a friend who is a Michelin star chef. Truly one to treasure. MAGNIFIQUE. I ONLY GAVE 5 STARS BECAUSE I COULDN 'T GIVE 6 !
This is a great little place- very traditional inside but welcoming and always a delicious aroma coming from the kitchen! Nice people running it and a great place to sit outside on the roadside Iunder the red parasols and watch te world go by.
Once in a while, you discover a gem of a place that etched a lasting memory of a gastronomical delight. This is one of them... From the moment we entered the inn/restaurant we were family! The owner and his cook/wife made sure we felt at home while his daughter and son-in-law took care of our needs at the table. The menu changes daily but I selected a delicious entrecote steak while my wife selected a lamb dish. Before that arrived, we were treated to the worlds best Pate (made in-house by the son-in-law) and a delightful salad to die for! But the Pierre-de-resistance was the delectable steak that was so soft and delicious it had a party while dancing on my taste buds. Steak frites accompanied the dish... Wine flowed and desserts were consumed. All in all we had a fantastic and memorable time. I will be back again for sure!
