The Boxwood Cafe - Oundle

Excellent food and service! Since the beginning of the pandemic, many of our once-favorite restaurants have been disappointing, if not completely unpleasant. However, Boxwood Cafe stands out as the one place where the dining experience has consistently maintained a high standard. We are always greeted warmly, and the service is prompt. Additionally, it’s the only restaurant that offers a great selection of gluten-free cakes that are both visually appealing and delicious. Many establishments seem to overlook the fact that those of us who are gluten-free still want indulgent options, instead serving us bland, cardboard-like alternatives. I recommend making a reservation in advance to avoid disappointment. If I could suggest one improvement for an otherwise perfect experience, it would be to keep the environment dog-free!

Price for Food: Overall, the prices for food and drinks at the Boxwood Cafe are excellent. The value they offer for what you receive is outstanding. Service Speed: On the day of my visit, the service was prompt. The front-of-house staff were exceptional; the ladies there were respectful, talented, and polite. The food and drink service was impressively fast! Food Quality: The quality of the food I received was exceptional. The three-tiered stand for my afternoon tea was delightful, featuring a wonderful variety of flavors, and the combination of foods was fantastic. The desserts were beautifully crafted and extremely refreshing! Restaurant Cleanliness: The cleanliness of the café was impressive, maintaining high standards and adhering to appropriate COVID-19 measures. Overall Thoughts: I have no additional comments to add.

We visited this café for the first time today after checking out Oundle's farmer's market. I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the food and the service. The coffee was among the best I've had at this location, and the baked goods looked fantastic! Everything was delicious. A quick note: many of the tables were reserved for lunch, so it's worth calling ahead for reservations, especially on weekends. This café is a real gem! Thanks to all the staff who, despite being quite busy, managed to be welcoming and do their jobs excellently! Five stars!

We returned to this beautiful spacious caffe, where they always get a nice greeting, their dog too! we all enjoyed a delicious lunch, which was beautifully presented. once again excellent customer service. we're coming back.

Lovely lunch here today. Friendly and efficient staff and I was given a choice of 3 vegan dishes that weren't on the menu really accommodating. The chips were lovely too !!
