Was jamesequity at Commerce a mag?
I had a family dinner. Modern dining room, colourful. We took the middle of range menu. Great choice. Amuse bouche were very good. Starter (tomato stuffed of escargot and pig's feet) was outstanding. Main course was scallops: again excellent. Dessert: profiterolles were quite good too. Wine was Mercurey. Nice one. Overall a great dinner even if slightly on the high side regarding price View all feedback.

We booked for a one night stay on our way back to the UK from Gironde. We were given a large and comfortable bedroom on the ground floor (17 which was well air conditioned and looked out over a pretty garden. We had booked a table for dinner which, on a fine evening, was set in the garden. The meal which followed showed that the restaurant’s Bib Gourmand award in Michelin (which I still call “good food at reasonable prices” was certainly justified. My wife and I both chose the 54 euro Menu Gourmet, of which the highlights were the first two courses: Bonbons d’escargots, velouté de courge et champignons de cave; followed by Boudins et crevettes de la Loire sauce Madame The starter comprised three crisp spheres containing a couple of snails each in a garlicky parsley sauce which spilled onto the plate when the “bonbon” was cracked open. There was also a marrow velouté and some mushrooms. This was an unusual and delicious dish. The main course was a mixture of three small homemade fish sausages and two good sized crevettes (all from the Loire in a light creamy sauce another very interesting course. We drank a local wine a Quincy 2020 from Henri Bourgeois with our fish courses and finished with cheese and a tasty dessert (in my case, a chocolate profiterole . We were very well looked after by the young waitress. Thoroughly recommended as a stopping point in the middle of France. We shall certainly be back. An extremely good breakfast the following morning was enlivened by the hotel’s African Grey parrot who was in his cage in the room next to where we ate!

Almost completely rebuilt, the dining room is very pleasant and a nice terrace has been created. The food has been excellent on all our visits, served by efficient friendly staff.
