Vanier Grill - Ottawa
Vanier Grill
Description
Despite mixed reviews, this diner-style restaurant seems to have a few standout dishes like club sandwiches and pizza. While the New York steak special received unfavorable feedback, the overall menu offers good value with tasty and filling options like trout, lasagna, and poutine. The atmosphere and service varied, ranging from a laid-back vibe to attentive waitstaff. The breakfast items were a highlight, featuring delicious eggs and fried potatoes, though the deep-fried French toast may not be for everyone. With a mix of positive and negative experiences, this restaurant is worth a try for its diverse menu and friendly service.

Just came for breakfast and the waitress had more time for her phone than for her customers. Had to go to her to order, get more coffee ect. She never came to ask how the food was or bring the bill. When I went to pay their was no questions about the food, and not a smile at all. Felt like I was bothering her to be there. Food was OK, but I felt so unwelcome by the staff that I won't be back. Found out afterwards that she was one of the managers - sad.
Great service, friendly staff - excellent food. Always a good time & fun atmosphere. Super drinks & portions.
Club sandwich was very good, lots of chicken. Fries were just OK. Salad dressing was zesty and tasty. Beer was OK, could have been colder. Overall, good meal but somewhat expensive for what used to be a great drop-in diner-type restaurant.
The food is amazing, and the staff is very welcoming. The breakfast potatoes are the best you'll find in the city!
