Summary: Ebi fry/chicken katsu is a must try! No reservations, so come early or during off-peak hours. You may have to wait as the chef is the only one running everything, plus he prepares everything on the spot. My go-to place whenever I'm in Otsu. Food is delicious and well-balanced, the retro vibe is amazing, and most of all, value for money is great!! They serve set meals/teishoku with a main, a salad, rice, and miso soup. Most meals are priced from 800JPY to 1,500JPY. For the set meals, I recommend the chicken katsu! It's so different from all the chicken katsu teishoku I've had. They also serve a bit more pricey stuff like kaki fry (oysters) and ebi fry (japanese shrimp) but it doesn't come with a rice and soup so you'll have to add.

I ordered a ginger grilled pork set lunch, which is 1350yen containing a bowl of rice, miso soup and 2 pieces of reddish tingling. Hands down one of the best grilled pigs I ever cost. The hot tea is a comfort for the soul when the weather is 2 degrees celcius outside. Although it could be a small store for large groups. This is an excellent selection of restaurant to start your bike tour around Lake Biwa for passengers there.

My favorite place is Otsu. Small, not fast, but amazing food and everything is made fresh. Great service.
