Stumbled across this great spot randomly with my son on a quick trip to Osnabrück. What a lucky break. Marvelously attentive staff, fantastic Gilde beer, cold glasses and stunning food (and tons of it). After a long day of travelling and sight seeing this was like cold water to a thirsty man! Can’t wait to get back, worth the flight just to taste the pork steaks!! View all feedback.
What unickque doesn't like about Marktschaenke:
We had lunch on a sunday afternoon. The place was mostly empty. The staff seemed fine with that and was relaxing with a drink on their own terrace. My gf had a garnelenpfanne, which was the special. This was quite good. I had the entenbrustsalat, this was really not good. It was a bunch of salad, all of which had brown edges and some of which was deteriorating into green mush. On top was sliced duck breast, which was... View all feedback.

Three guys on a business trip again. So this was an ideal environment to wind down and de brief after a long day of business and deals. Couple of beers Good local ones .... and then reviewed a menu that seemed to be mostly pork based dishes ? I selected a 3 steak (beef tenderloin, Pork tenderloin, and chicken breast combination dish, which when it arrived at the table looked like it must have been loaded with a shovel ! The portions for everything on my plate were huge: Mushrooms in cream sauce abounded, as did green beans (healthy ! and fried potatoes and bechamel sauce (not so healthy ! . It all combined into an incredibly tasty local traditional meal which I really enjoyed, but which I just couldn't finish because of the sheer size of all the servings ! The same was true for my colleagues younger than me and normally blessed with limitless appetites: they couldnt finish their plates either. Our waitress (a saucy, feisty old bird she was ! spoke no English, but nonetheless was very patient with my colleagues, who had no idea how to communicate with her ! yet we all managed to communicate our needs and had a great meal (as much as we could eat anyway !
We dined here our 1st night in Osnabrueck. We had reservations, and a table was waiting for us. Sorry it's taken so long to write this review. We were seated at a table near the open end of the bar. It was sort of dark inside, but it only added to the atmosphere. I had 2 .5l Steiger (dunkel beers. Other half had a glass of white wine(even though the receipt said Merlot? . We ordered, and they seemed to forget we had done so. Once we pointed out how long it had been, they realized that our orders were not put in! We did get our food about 10 minutes later. I had Jaeger Schnitzel w fries and salad. Other half Leberkaese w egg on top plus Red Cabbage Potatoes. Beer was very good, but food was average German bar food. The men's room was interesting with sayings on the wall! I probably wouldn't return here since we had just as good meal the next night at the Holiday Inn (where we were staying for a better price without the 1 km walk! I would have tried the Rampendahl Haus around the corner for lunch the next day, but they weren't open until evening. It had a higher rating so I wish we had gone there instead, but maybe next time! In summary, average German bar food w great German beer. The best thing was the bathroom!

This was quite good. I had the entenbrustsalat, this was really not good. It was a bunch of salad, all of which had brown edges and some of which was deteriorating into green mush. On top was sliced duck breast, which was good. And on the side a berry sauce, which was more like a smoothy of some blended berries. I did not dare eat any of the salad and wondered how they could serve that to us. It also seemed to attract flies. We will not be eating there again. One star for the shrimp pan though.
Super olde worlde pub in the Altstadt. Service very friendly and went out of her way to help me charge my phone
