very stylish restaurant. we ordered fish soup and seafood sandwich for lunch. the salmon in the fish soup is the best we ever tasted in oslo, as it is only fished on the sea! sengel in the suppe is also good and the suppe itself is very creamy. the crabs and the garnels on the bach are also very tasty. the personal is very nice. What an amazing place! Worth the hype and the price. My server was amazing and made me feel so welcome. A credit to Oslo.
Visited as a solo American tourist. Perfect ambience. Great service. And absolutely delicious meal.
A wonderful traditional Norwegian brasserie. The main courses are fantastic. We had halibut and reindeer both superb. The atmosphere is lovely. The hosts are charming. The wine is lovely though, like the rest of Scandinavia costs a small fortune. Interesting that really high quality Chablis here was same price as much less captivating wine elsewhere. You can get excellent wine here by the glass though if cash strapped. Best eatery we visited in a five day stay here. So good we ate here twice.
We stumbled randomly over the narrow-brew caffe, just to find it as the oldest restaurant in oslo. we shared a liter of apple juice and had fish soup. the suppe was delicious: delicate pieces of cod, salmon and garnel with some musk and surrounded by a drop-shaped waterbed of creamy and light fish soup. the staff was beautiful, the location is excellent, and we were very happy to have gedimt here.
We had a great experience in the engbären caffe. we needed a place for 8 people to eat and something random found this place. there is a sign outside that tells them it is the oldest restaurant in oslo. the inner is very long with this earthy earthquake: many old signs and it could come a bit stuffy. but eating is anything but stuffy: we had a fantastic dinner here. the menu is inventive and kreatiw, with a modern take on Nordic and French inspired cuisine, that was from a level much higher than we originally expected. they use significantly many seasonal ingredients, as at the time we were (endmai) there were many economic options for example and they were fantastic! it was hard to choose a main course as many of the options sound extremely appealing, and they really delivered to their description. with desserts there were great options and the aromen were spectacular. it was such a great experience that we decided to come back in the evening when we had an even bigger group, and the quality of food (and service) was consistent in both nights. would really recommend!
