Excellent lunch! We hopped on a little boat and headed to the island. It's not super easy to find but it's worth it! The views were beautiful. I had the mussels. It was tasty! It had a coconut curry sauce e and came with bread. I'd highly recommend trying this spot when you head to the museums! View all feedback.
What Lars R doesn't like about Lille Herbern:
Excellent food, drinks and overall service. Just... When you have a group of 20 people or more toasting in Champagne, and one person has nothing in any glass, this is still a situation that can be resolved like any 5 star establishment would. Lille Herbern chose to make the situation more embarrassing. View all feedback.
I wanted to like this place more-its got a great setting on a little island surrounded by views of the water and it takes a bit of effort to get there. You either can take a bus $4) or what we did is take the museum ferry $6) to stop 2-then walk about 15 minutes but Google is messed up at the last part). Walk down a gravel road that has a barrier arm across, get on the little boat $5) that takes you across to the tiny island takes maybe 30 seconds), walk 5 minutes to the restaurant and put in you name they don't take reservations and by definition you are only going there to eat outside of a beautiful day so lots of people have the same thoughts). I'd definitely go there to sit on the bar section of the patio and enjoy a glass of wine or two. We arrived pretty early -before 6 on a Sunday-so only waited like 20 minutes. The menu is really limited and as this is a seasonal restaurant-totally untrained staff. There were about 10 young servers and we probably interacted with 7 different ones-2 tried to take our order, different ones brought food, 1 didn't bring wine we ordered, another never brought the dessert we ordered after 20+ minute wait, and we eventually flagged down the only non-teenager and got our bill. Now I'm not trying to complain and everyone needs to start out somewhere but what was apparent is that there is absolutely no system whatsoever about who does what or who handles what-and it clearly wasn't a team service concept-just disorganized chaos. My wife's crab salad was decent as was my fish and chips but something we ate totally disagreed with us the next day. Can't recommend

One of my favorite dining experiences. Taking the very brief boat ride was so charming. Everything about this place was simply magical. We dined on a hot summer evening. The wait staff were so friendly and attentive and seemed very happy to be working there. Our son swam in the little beach nearby while the other kids explored. The food to just perfect, all of it and beautifully presented. There are many charming rooms to rent out for parties. Stunning!! Thank you
This is a place that reminded me a bit of home (which is Greece). Very positive surprise in Oslo! Lille Herbern is a very nice restaurant on a small island close to bygdøy. It's a bit tricky to find if you haven't been there before. You basically take the last street to the right before arriving to the Viking museum. When you arrive to the water there is a little boat that takes you to the island for 30 nok. The ride takes 2 mins probably as it is very close. When you arrive to the island it's just amazing! There is a little bar and a restaurant with two cuisines, meat and fish. The bar had some reggae music and had a super nice atmosphere. You sit next to the water and when it's sunny it has this vacation feeling to it. The food and service was really good. I had the fish and chips and it was really tasty. It was a bit more gourmet than plain fish and chips and I loved it. Be prepared for some waiting time if it's weekend and good weather though! Enjoy this little hidden gem!
