Gallo D'oro - ORVIETO

I spend a lot of time in Orvieto, having made a lot of local friends. Reading the reviews of Gallo d’Oro I am somewhat surprised. For the most part I am vegetarian, and I discovered a while ago that this restaurant has much to offer to those who want to avoid meat. I have ordered the vegetarian antipasto on numerous occasions in different seasons, and have always enjoyed the variety of seasonal items on the plate. It has never been exactly the same, changing with the season. And I have enjoyed the pastas and gnocchi also. If you are just looking for pizza, go to a pizzeria. .

Our experience here is SO much different than many of the other reviewers. We stopped for an early lunch, ordering a pasta dish and gnocchi, and the food was excellent. Our server was friendly as was the chef owner. Would totally return here if visiting Orvieto again.

The worst pasta I ever tried! Pasta 4 formaggie is the simplest pasta like Barila from supermarket with a little bit cheese (1 kind of cheese, not 4). Not recommended strongly

Two times in my life I have left meat on the plate. It describes all. One piece of meat was totally burned one **** and the lettuce maybe from last week. And 13 Euro for this... And also was added several items to the invoice that was brought to us as a lump sum. After arguing the invoice got smaller... but be careful with this place.

Sorry this is a little late, just found the receipt with the restaurant name so I could write the review. We had a great lunch here for Mother’s Day. We shared caprese salad, a fabulous chicken with mushrooms, wonderful bread and a bottle of wine. The food was really good and the waitress was wonderful. I would totally recommend having lunch here!
