What Omarley R doesn't like about Franceella Caribbean Cuisine:
ordered 2 large Chicken Jerk with 3 Spicy Beef Patty...never received the beef patties but I ended up being ok with it because the rest of the food was terrible. For an authentic Carribean spot there was no flavor to the rice and beans, the Mac and cheese was dry and we could not taste any jerk seasoning on the jerk chicken. For an authentic Carribean spot there was no flavor to the rice and beans, the Mac and cheese was dry and we could not taste any jerk seasoning on the jerk chicken. It tasted like someone rubbed charcoal all over it. The veggies were undercooked as well. We got a huge portion of rice and the smallest pieces of chicken and the smallest scoop of Mac and Cheese. Im not sure if it was because it was the end of the night or not but being from the Carribean and the claims that its an authentic Carribean spot I expected more and was highly disappointed.
Rice is bland veggies bland gotnthe wrong order of bbq chicken instead of Lunch Special -Jerk Chicken Fresh Pink Lemonade is not fresh its powder tasting.
I ordered the small spicy beef oxtail meal. While the oxtail itself was tender and fell right off the bone, I found the dish to be lacking in vegetables, which was disappointing since I really love them. The rice was a bit on the tough side and I didn't taste much coconut milk in it. The mac and cheese improved by the next day, though. The patty was excellent—definitely a solid 10 out of 10—but it would have been even better with the option of coco bread. Overall, it's one of the better patties I've had in Orlando.
The oxtail and curry goat were fantastic. The mac and cheese was excellent, and I was pleasantly surprised by the rice and beans and steamed vegetables (with a generous amount of cabbage), which were also flawless. I had some mango hot sauce and other sides that I would definitely recommend. For those looking to balance the spicy heat, I suggest pairing it with yogurt or a drink like red wine (I chose a Nebbiolo).
What a hidden gem! The flavors are vibrant and the portion sizes are generous. The staff is very friendly. I absolutely love the mac and cheese, as well as the oxtails and baked chicken. They also make an excellent sorrel!
