Whenever my wife and I visit family in Dounby we dine in this excellent restaurant. On Sunday they do a first class and very tasty Roast Beef lunch with all the trimmings. A very good selection of beers and wines are on offer. Service is very good and their prices are very reasonable indeed. Should you be in Orkney on vacation or for any other reason, I recommend that you dine in this splendid restaurant. View all feedback.
What Revatron doesn't like about Smithfield:
We popped in for lunch and the place was empty which was nice as we had the cafe porch to ourselves. Service was good but the menu is strange. The orkney steak burrito is NOT a burrito. It is a wrap, served mildly warm but (certainly not hot) with a side salad and crisps. Beautifully cooked steaks, scallops etc. (We ate there twice). Very good service. My review seems to have gone on hotel page; we did not stay there. Just in case, I’ve reviewed again as the Smithfield deserves the 5* rating!
Stopped in to the cafe for lunch last week and it was fabulous. All freshly made and delicious. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Will be back for lunch and also to have dinner in the restaurant.
First time eating here, was recommended by a friend as having some good gluten free options....understatement, the whole menu (I think) is Gluten Free friendly either with choices or alternatives. I personally ordered the Crab Cocktail and then the Fish and Chips actual battered...
Almost the entire menu in both the restaurant and the cafe are available gluten free. Wonderful service and wonderful food. Thank you so much
Located in the centre of Dounby, in the middle of West Mainland, Orkney. Hotel with cafe restaurant to non-resident. Friendly staff followers of covid restrictions. Had lunch in the cafe, requested table in the front conservatory area, as other room was quite dark...
