We love country stores like this! They are disappearing from the rural landscape. The owner was delightful. We didn't eat in the Cafe…but will do so next time we're in the area. I encourage you to stop in if you are near!!! View all feedback.
What NOMAD T doesn't like about Austin House:
Food was good, service could use some work. We had to bus our own table. The cost in comparison to the food, was a bit expensive. 2 burgers w/fries and drinks plus one dessert, $65. A bit much I think, but if it keeps your doors open for the unexpected, I doubt there is too much repeat business. (Unless they have more dollars than sense. View all feedback.

A diamond in the middle of nowhere a must see for the weary traveler.
We just bought a summer sausage. Beautiful restaurant area! Really nice selection of local stuff.. Beautiful place!
“Ma” Austin founded this rest stop/restaurant in the early 1900’s during the heyday of the railroad logging years. She served trout, venison, and delicious pies. The current owners are equally gracious although the menu has changed. Anyone who travels Hwy 26 through here should definitely make this rest stop. The huckleberry ice cream floats are fantastic!
Beautiful area. Nice little store nestled in the mountains.
