Great atmosphere. Felt upscale for an island bistro. I was disappointed that they ran out of salmon. I guess 630 is late for dinner on the island. But I was more than happy with the Island Hot Pot. Lots of seafood and tons of flavor! I'm sure the view of the ferry terminal at sunset is great... we came just after, oh well, next time! View all feedback.
What Jenna R doesn't like about Octavia's Bistro:
I went with my family while waiting for the ferry. I ordered the seared salmon which came with asparagus and Israeli couscous. The salmon was bland but well-cooked. The asparagus was very good and I would take a whole plate of that; while my couscous was bland and tasteless. My mom ordered the Rib Eye and asked for her steak rare but when it came it was medium. Also, her potatoes were undercooked. My sister's calamar... View all feedback.
Fish and chips were very good. Service was awesome. Always ate at the Cafe in front but they were closed. Never knew there was a bistro in back. Good food.
We went here on a Sunday evening for an anniversary dinner. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and we were turned away at the door. We were told we were too big of a party for them and they pushed us to the cafe next door. They were very rude at the cafe and when I took the clam chowder back for being spoiled, I was told it looks like the clam chowder they always serve and fought us for our money back. It was such a disappointing experience because we've heard it's delicious food but we will never be back.
This was a great little cafe that my mom and I swung into on a recent trip to orcas. I had the portobella mushroom sandwich and a cup of the local clam chowder, both of which were delicious. The sandwich was made to order and came out hot and fresh and fries on the side. The clam chowder is made daily and once it's gone, it's gone I would definitely recommend it! The clams were firm and chewy and the soup base wasn't too thick or too thin. The view was great as well overlooking the ferry dock! Great place to drop by either waiting for the ferry or upon arrival at orcas.
It was ok. I got the shrimp scampi over linguini and it was pretty flavorless. It tasted like butter covered shrimp with not much else in flavor. It's was meh.
The salmon was pricey yet salty, dry and overcooked. The quinoa and vegetables were bland. They did not serve coffee (machine broken). My husband's chicken had fatty skin on it. Only one person being hostess and waitress and server so service was slow.
