Wohlner's Grocery & Deli - Omaha

A very clean and well stocked small grocery store in the city center. They carry very high quality unique goods, although some items are a bit pricy. I have been going here for deli items the past 5 years, sad to say it's gone down hill. Their meat counter has a variety of great high-quality meats, the best steak I've ever had in my life I purchased from this meat counter (the Omaha strip) and cooked it myself. The butcher is always very nice and professional. The deli counter carries high-quality deli meats, cheeses and pasta salad dishes. Unfortunately the service has gone downhill dramatically in past years. When I first visited the deli the man behind the counter was extremely knowledgeable, quick, hard-working and able to make thoughtful suggestions. Sadly now every time I go I end up waiting up to a half hour in line just to place an order while some employees stand behind the counter not even helping. Don't get me wrong every employee I've encountered there is extremely nice, they just seem unprepared, untrained, and have no sense of urgency. sometimes it takes the person behind the counter 10 minutes to make a single sandwich and while it's cooking he doesn't even bother to take the order for the next sandwich. I would eat there much more frequently, as their food is delicious, if I knew it wouldn't be a 30 minute ordeal every time I went in for a takeaway meal.
