Was Joe Mendick at Wheatfields a mag?
This restaurant is amazing and will awaken a sense of nostalgia for Germany. They offer an extensive variety of desserts. I always order the Düsseldorf sausage and potato casserole, which is delicious. Don't miss the strudel with cream—it's a must-try! Pair it with a latte or a mimosa, and you have the perfect Sunday setup. View all feedback.
What Velva Connelly dislikes about Wheatfields:
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The food was average at best, and the service was quite poor. The establishment itself was dirty and cluttered. Additionally, the owner was rude and unprofessional. I would recommend looking for other dining options, as there are many better places to choose from. Save your time and money. View all feedback.

I don't understand why Wheatfields has such a following. My first visit here I ordered quiche and the serving was huge however, it apparently was microwaved leaving the crust soggy. I tried another time and ordered a sandwich which was just ok.
The food is just OK, but we usually go there for the bakery. On our last visit my wife had the peach chicken special. It came with a nice long grain rice and stir fried vegetables. My wife really liked it. I had the meatloaf and chicken combo special. It came with mashed potatoes and stir fried vegetables. The meatloaf was just average, the fried chicken was pretty good, but the mashed potatoes were very good, as were the vegetables. We both had the raspberry tea which was very flavorful. Most important were our desserts. My wife had the strawberry wedding cake and I had the Jack Benny cake. We both shared each others and were very happy with both of them. Service was very good because we went at non peak hours, at about 2PM. At peak hours service many times suffer due to the large crowds so we avoid peak times. Overall usually a enjoyable experience.
Found this place tucked around the corner and thought we would give it a chance. Everyone in our party of five was impressed The waffles were fantastic, the tuna melt was really good. My husband got the South Omaha Breakfast and lived it. My son got the lobster Benedict and refused to leave until he finished it. This place is a keeper!!
One of my favorite places! The strawberry wedding cake is HEAVEN and the fried chicken, quiches, just about everything on the menu is also amazing!
We ate here for dinner last night for my bday and the food was great! Home style cooking w a huge menu. I had chicken fried steak and it was delicious! Only bad thing I can say about them is.. I had them bring me a cookie and it was hard as a rock, flavor was great but I thought I was gonna break a tooth... For my b day I had a selection of 3 different cake slices for only a $1, we chose wedding cake and it was to die for.. after eating the cake I thought maybe I just got a bad cookie /: All in all, I will definitely eat here again, definitely a place to bring the family as the menu is so big.. BTW I have a family member w celiac disease and they told us they have nothing gluten free despite what the other bloggers have written
Wheatfields restaurant has received mixed reviews from patrons. Some customers have complained about poor service, incorrect orders, and mediocre food quality. One guest mentioned receiving a soggy quiche and slow service, while another expressed disappointment in the cooking skills of the kitchen staff. However, other diners have had positive experiences, praising the bakery items and a variety of menu options. One reviewer mentioned enjoying the waffles, tuna melt, and lobster Benedict, while another complimented the dessert selection and friendly service. Overall, Wheatfields seems to have its strengths in the bakery department and certain menu items, making it worth a visit for those seeking a diverse menu and nostalgic German dishes.

We arrived at about 10:45 am. Our service was a bit slow with only a handful of people in the restaurant. We were given a booth in desperate need of some new padding. The coils were not very comfy on the butt. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy with two eggs over easy. I ordered the dussledorf potatoes. My potatoes were nice and crispy, just the way I like it. My husband said his B G were in top 3 for Omaha. It was a bit pricey for the food, but made up for it in flavor.
What a disappointment. My fond memories of this place from my childhood are now tarnished. The bakery, once a delightful treat, especially for their zebra brownies and their blueberry muffins, used to bring me so much joy. However, my perception shifted after a less-than-pleasant encounter with the owner, Ron Popp, during a catering order a few years ago. It's disheartening to witness such a change in the ambiance of a place I once loved. And while I respect that individuals are entitled to their own beliefs, whether in politics or regarding COVID-19, it's disheartening to find out that Mr. Popp is an avid COVID-denier and holds extreme religious views, even incorporating anti-abortion messages into the menus. Who needs to see that? Also finding out that he was at the center of a class action lawsuit for wage theft in 2012, supported by 37 former employees, casts a shadow over the restaurant's reputation. We decided to go here for for brunch. It wasn't very busy. We were seated right away. The service was pretty good. We received our drinks right away. The restaurant was clean but dated. I ordered the chicken fried steak special. It was ok. It came with 2 eggs and biscuits and gravy. My daughter ordered avocado toast and egg. She liked it my wife ordered the potatoe casserole my son ordered the Cobb salads. The food was ok with larger serving size. The bill including tip was $100. It was not worth the price.
I've eaten here a few times, and recently got takeout. I've always been extremely impressed by their cinnamon rolls! The caramel roll is my favorite--much more gooey topping than anywhere else I've found! I get an extra one every time I come in. The biscuits and gravy has been quite salty the last 2 times I tried it. It wasn't the end of the world, but would have been better with less salt and maybe more pepper instead. The bacon was fine, and eggs were not great. This could also have been due to getting takeout vs. eating it fresh in the restaurant. Overall a great, versatile menu with very reasonable prices. Plenty of sweets to choose from in their bakery, but do yourself a favor and get the caramel roll at the very least!!

My best friend and I had always done breakfast/brunch at a different establishment for years, but Wheatfields will be our new place! I hadn't been here in a long time until this past weekend and wondered why I ever strayed away. I absolutely love this restaurant! My eggs came out wrong but the server was extremely attentive and made things right As a former server myself, I know things happen between the table order and the kitchen so it was no problem at all. I genuinely appreciated her care with having new eggs made. Breakfast and coffee were absolutely delicious, and of course it took a lot of restraint to not buy all of the desserts in the bakery area. :

I ordered the crab and lobster cake eggs Benedict, and I must say, if you're looking to treat yourself and have a little extra cash, this dish is pure indulgence on a plate. I absolutely love it! It's delightfully cheesy with a nice kick, and the cakes are always cooked just right!

I'm convinced someone sold their soul to create these amazing cinnamon buns. I anticipated the frosting to be overly sweet due to its generous amount, but it turned out to be the creamiest thing I've ever had. Its texture was similar to cream cheese frosting, yet it was as smooth as whipped cream. The avocado toast was incredibly delicious as well.
