more than a decade ago, a friend told me to try this place, but it's addicted. since I've been a repeater for ten years. I have one of them, take them to home menus and honestly have every single dish they serve. this place is great. I traveled the country for work and had Chinese in countless cities, but on my long journey home I have her Yam chicken in the back. really a hidden gem. put her down the phone and get h... What Ashton Yundt doesn't like about Rose Garden:
Horrible food. I stopped by for lunch since it was right next to Hy-vee on 96th and Q. I had the Generals and wife had sesame chicken... The Generals chicken tasted like a pile of salt while the sesame tasted like a synthetic blend of plastic and petroleum jelly. Food is cheap but save yourself the trip and go to a better joint. The food was pretty good except the broccoli in the Orange Beef was completely inedible, tough and chewy.
Had walked past Rose Garden a dozen times on my way to Roman Coin Pizza at the Varsity without really noticing it.
We passed by the area and found this restaurant at YelpIt is like most Chinese order take out places in small townsThe menu is similar.
Good. I ordered an egg roll to start. It was pretty good, but a little too full of cabbage and weak on flavor. I ordered the Orange Flavored Chicken. It was served with fried rice and two cream cheese wontons. The chicken was very good and very flavorful (be careful you don't get any orange peel on your fork as it will be an overpowering taste experience). Rangoon were standard. Nothing exciting there. Overall, this is a solid place to grab some typical Americanized Chinese food. They do a better job than most places. One thing that freaked me out a little is that in-between customers one lady walked over to the corner (away from any food) and was clipping her nails into a trash can. Some things you just don't do in a restaurant (especially behind the counter). I realize it's probably a cultural thing and she honestly didn't think she was doing anything wrong. Restaurant was clean and well-maintained. I didn't make use of the restrooms, but everything else looked good.
I have to agree, this place is excellent for the price. Probably top 5 in Omaha for taste. The decor is lacking with only a few booths/tables, but the food will not disappoint. Taste best when you dine in!
