great bar, love all barkeepers other than the Sunday nightman. he was very rude and vulgar and did not call me so suitable names. can't let a bad apple ruin all the baptism. recommend the stop from Monday to Saturday! View all feedback.
What Mark K doesn't like about Poop Deck:
Great for a quick drink however, there are a few local regular busy bodies that have nothing better to do than start trouble and ruin the experience. This bar has special clicks. View all feedback.
I admit it. I come here because it fun to tell folks where I am at. It is a juvenile thing I do. I like divey bars too. there is no reason to not come here. There really isn't anyplace around to get cheap beer and be left alone. Sometimes I like solitary drinking. The Poop has great regulars and welcoming staff. You don't have to know anybody and soon you will have drinking buddies. Standard non kitchen bar food, but you can get a frozen pizza. I didn't bother though. The Poop is really akin The Elbow room. Depending on where you live you should stop here and dive in.
After reviewing a surfeit of surprisingly classy joints and one or two with ague, I had to go for a dive. The Omaha Poop Deck has been on my Working Class Bars To-Do List for several months along with other notables that open at 6 a.m. Accommodating those who work hard so we don 't have to (nurses, firefighters and other third-shift workers) is also a patriotic act. Walking in from the sun-blasted parking lot into The Poop Deck 's cool, dark interior felt like spelunking. Before my eyes had time to adjust, I was greeted by two friendly voices, one a customer, the other Jim the bartender. Jim knew everyone 's name that afternoon. Had I introduced myself, I 'm sure he would have used my name and remembered it for next time. It 's common in neighborhood bars where regulars rule to feel like the odd man out, but there was none of that here. On tap they had Bud, Bud Light, Busch Light, Boulevard Wheat, Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, Infusion Vanilla Bean, Blue Moon and Stella Artois. Two of the 10 televisions were tuned to Fox News, but the only heated political discussion was over the upcoming switch from the Busch Light tap to Coors Light, an event which had some customers rankled. Not a problem for me, I was down for the Leinenkugel 's Summer Shandy at $3.50 a pint. Whilst checking out the taps, considering my second beer, Jim offered me a sample of the Infusion Vanilla Bean. Normally, I don 't ask for samples. As a customer, that 's entitled behavior. As a reviewer, it 's a button-pusher. If having a beer I don 't like is the worst thing that happens, I consider it a good day. When it 's offered, however, I 'll take a sample. Good thing, too. If vanilla is your jam, by all means, try Infusion 's. My vanilla preference is apparently limited to baked goods and air fresheners. The snack selection is nice: peanuts, candy bars, Slim Jim 's and peanut butter stuffed cheese-flavored crackers that take one back. And then I saw the Jack 's Pizza $5.50 sign and my heart grew three sizes that day. Less pretentious than diGiorno, more mature than Totino 's, those Jack 's were priced to move and Kraft 's signature frozen pizza rocks when you 're tiddly. And no vanilla. I had one with Boulevard Wheat (also $3.50). Plusses include pool, darts, jukebox and a KISS pinball machine. There 's a small deck on the west side offering a shady retreat for smokers. Cigarettes and pints are also available. Daily specials include $5.25 pictures from 6 to 10 p.m. on Mondays. Free pool all day and $2 Black Haus shots on Tuesdays. Old School Wednesdays include $1.50 Busch Light, Hamm 's, Old Milwaukee Light, Schlitz and PBR. Thursdays are $2.25 well drinks from 6 a.m. to noon. Fridays are $2.75 well drinks from 6 a.m. to noon. Saturday is half-price Jack 's Pizza all-day long. Friendly and reasonably-priced, The Omaha Poop Deck is worth a visit or three.
Best dive bar in Omaha. This place makes me feel like I'm back in my hometown having drinks with people I've known forever. The patrons are always friendly and the drinks are strong and cheap. Love the dart board and pool table. Feels like small town Nebraska in the middle of its largest city.
Nothing bad to be said about this cozy neighborhood dive with an infamous name. I came here for the first time in over 10 years and, from what I remember, not much has changed. You have a pool table, bar, barstools and a few hightop tables and chairs. Plus a smoking deck on the side. I guess you can 't call yourself the Poop Deck without and an actual deck. Mix in a remarkably friendly blue collar after work crowd, and you have a nice bar to wash away the worries of the day. There 's a decent selection of beer. As I walked up to the bar, I noticed a cash only sign with an arrow pointing to the ATM. Luckily, I rolled in with Mike S., who smartly brought some cash and spotted me for an Anchor Steam on tap. (Thanks Mike, I owe you a beer. It 's also worth noting that the Poop Deck opens at 6 a.m. and supposedly has a dedicated third shift following.
I've been going to this bar for 20 plus years and have a met some awesome people. Majority of people are friendly. Very clean bar. I'm a die hard Poop Deck fan.
