Saigon Rendezvous - Olympia
Saigon Rendezvous
Description
Nestled in a cozy corner, this restaurant has captured the hearts of many with its extensive vegetarian menu, including an array of mock meats. Diners often rave about the generous portion sizes and reasonable prices, particularly enjoying dishes like almond chicken and fried tofu. However, some guests have experienced inconsistent food preparation and rushed service, especially during busy hours. While the atmosphere is generally welcoming, a few diners noted cleanliness issues with utensils. Still, for those seeking comforting, plant-based options, this establishment remains a noteworthy spot to satisfy cravings and enjoy hearty meals.
Feedback
I think they've added back some vegan options to their menu, but I wasn't particularly impressed. It seemed like there was only one option available. They were the only pho restaurant open near me on Christmas, so I decided to give them a try.
Nice employees offering large number of Vegan choices. The menu is quite extensive so hopefully you can find something for everyone. Portion size was very good and prices were pretty good. I had the Soba noodles fried with vegetables and my friend had the sampler plate with fake meat. They were both pretty good. The waitress was very nice and took a lot of time explaining about the food and showing us other dishes as she was on the way to deliver them to other tables. The Vegan hot and sour soup was intriguing maybe I will try it next time.
All the menu items are marked as vegetarian, but when you ask which are vegan, the owner interrupts to repeatedly list them off. I've had multiple experiences where I asked if certain dishes contained ice or fish sauce, and I was assured they didn't—only to find those ingredients in my meal. Clearly, there’s a lack of understanding when it comes to vegan options, and it doesn't seem like they take the effort to ensure that vegan orders are properly prepared. It also seems likely that the meat they use includes milk. While I was paying the bill amid the chaos, I noticed some crumpled papers with names of restaurants that appear to have participated in reality shows about saving struggling eateries. That’s definitely not a good sign.
I love and recommend the Vegetarian Almond Chicken...it's delicious! Also while there you might want to keep an eye out for dirty utensils, been given one to use a few times.
Fried fake chxn fingers and ss sauce or good if thats what you're going for. Other than that, our fried rice was boring, veggies were fresh but so oily i couldn't tast them and the fresh spring rolls were yucky! The peanut dipping sauce was also a disapppointment. we'll only go here again just for a basket of fried tofu when in the need for serious comfort food. for anything fresh or healthy we'll go elsewhere.
