Peruvian cuisine is heavy on protein and starch, and I have eaten vegetables! They brought me so delicious with a green salad with apples, avocado and a delicious fruity dressing! Our other items from the menu were very nice. It's good if you stay at the hotel, but I wouldn't look for it.
After visiting Machu Picchu, our guide led us to this restaurant. The restaurant was cozy and comfortable. The food tasted good. I ordered Causa de Pollo as an appetizer but later discovered that my dish was served without the chicken on top. The staff was kind enough to ask me whether I want the chicken back. Well, I politely said no because I had already completed my course. The service was a bit slow also. Since we were not in a hurry, we were fine with that.
Our guide made a reservation for us at this for lunch but because we had train trouble, it made it into more like dinner. The service was great and the food was tasty. We simply walked to our hotel afterwards because everything is so close.
Café Inkaterra is in a beautiful environment, we were there for dinner, but I can imagine how beautiful it must be during the day. The dining room is very nice, tastefully decorated. The menu looks more demanding than the actual food that was sadly disappointing.
The location of this restaurant is not the best because it is close to the train tracks and has no very good views. But our 3-course lunch organized before the visit Machu Picchu was excellent, in fact all dishes were delicious.
