An excellent little place setback from the beach. Very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and the choice on the menu. Plenty of specials too. Had an excellent prawn tartare for example. Great service and atmosphere throughout from a family business. Cheap as chips too. Only watch out it’s near a marshy area so take some repellent. 100% return. View all feedback.
What Philippe G doesn't like about Merendero De Quimera:
I ordered spicy chicken in exotic fruits and cous cous for 11 euros. Was told there would be a delay as cooked fresh. After some time I got one small chicken thigh grilled with a tiny amount of chips and two asparagus. I assumed I had pointed to the wrong thing on the menu and ate my meal as I was hungry, tt didn’t take long it was so small. As the plates were cleared I grabbed a menu which was in Spanish and English... View all feedback.
As the plates were cleared I grabbed a menu which was in Spanish and English and realised my initial choice was the only chicken on the menu. I pointed out the disparity to the waiter who initially argued that I had what was on menu until he realised that this was nonsense and he apologised and went off to get me the bill to which he still charged me the initial 11 euros though to be fair he did offer me a drink. I will not be going back .
The 16e lunch menu is a bargain as the food quality is excellent from the starters through to the desserts. This is proper restaurant quality food, not like many cafe/bars masquerading as restaurants. I am over to Oliva next week and shall certainly be eating there, probably more than one once.

We had a lovely lunch of homemade croquetas followed by turbot and hand cut chips. Whilst not that cheap the turbot (18e) was fresh and perfectly cooked. The furnishings are modern and background music was low key and chilled. A great lunch before driving to the airport and home to the UK.
This bar/restaurant has only been open for a few weeks. We went in for drinks initially and found the bar to be lovely and fresh, with good decoration and a wide range of drinks available. It's open from 11:30am to 1:30am 7 days a week. We subsequently booked a family evening meal for a few days later. We ordered 2 large bowls of salad between 6 adults and had pre ordered a paella. The salad was amazing and one of the nicest we've ever had. Spirallised carrots, apples, walnuts, smoked salmon, crisp lettuce, etc. Really, really good. The paella was unfortunately not at all what we'd expected but, it was down to assumption of ingredients rather than our order being incorrect. If you want a paella, ensure that you read the paella menu so you will get what you want. A mixed paella has meat rabbit, chicken and maybe snails) and fish gambas, mussels, prawns, squid) whereas a Valencia, for example, will have flat green beans, rabbit and chicken etc. Quite bland. We found the paella to be wanting as it had no apparent Saffron, nor any succulent crispy base the bit every paella lover really wants). The consistency was of a mushy risotto instead of a true paella, which was also disappointing. A few in our group left the majority of their paella. The house wine was nice. Overall, the meal and drinks came to just over €160 for 6 of us 2 salads, 1 paella plus drinks) which was very expensive when compared to other restaurants for similar and better food. As a result of the misunderstanding, we didn't enjoy the meal although the staff were attentive. Many were young and in the process of learning their roles. It is worth mentioning that the next table had ordered a mixed paella, which did look nice. It also, however, didn't appear to have the traditional crispy base. We eat paella regularly and will continue to do so. Just not at this establishment.
