Was acornheadthefirst at Bolinhas Do Carlos a mag?
The biggest hottest tastiest filled donuts around, cooked fresh to order. Many flavours of which I recommend the passion fruit and also apple. The kiosk is a hidden gem, open late into the night during summer months only. View all feedback.

What Pedro O dislikes about Bolinhas Do Carlos:
Situated near Moncarapacho, it is a factory of Bolas de Berlim and the curiosity is that it is open until 3h am. Lots of different flavors for everyone's tastes. View all feedback.

We stayed not far from the shop and found it by accident it looked at first glance like a hatch in someone's garage but actually it does seem to be a family business (I think there's a cafe somewhere too...? Choose from a long list of delicious fillings and your order will be made for you on the spot. I would recommend eating them straight away as you can't beat that warm, fresh donut taste! Enjoy!

Tasty and delicious. Generous with filling and cheap! We went directly to the bakery and bought 5, only cost €4.60.

Direct translation from Portuguese: Berlin balls! Several flavours, you can also order them without it and, for my personal taste even better, without the external sugar. One of the best Berlin balls I 've ever tasted. Soft and balanced sweetness on the pastry itself and a delicate, concise cream with the correct thickness. All this review is based on the standard, typical type of these Berlin balls, but I must say the apple ones did smell fantastic. Adding to this they are open until 3am (this is not a spelling error it 's really 3am), which turns out to be a great way to finish the day. Note: be prepared you may have to wait as there are lots of customers. Also the satnav/GPS points to another part of the building not the main entrance at the back through the side road. BTW although some brits refer to it as custard it 's not custard, and if I have to direct translate it from Portuguese it would be something like pastry chef cream , the closer Portuguese thing to custard would be leite creme .
