We have lunch here at least once a week. This is far better indian quisine than one would expect in small town Alberta. The meals are always tasy and accessible to most people. This is a family run restaurant. The servers are family and very personable. Our favourites includ Chicken Malia tikka, Vegetables jalfreezie, butter chicken and Lamb vindaloo. It is always excellent. View all feedback.
What Elisabetta Ferretti doesn't like about Star Indian Cuisine:
This is actually a fairly quality Indian restaurant that I think has a bad rep because, early on anyway, the service was terrible. It is much improved. Probably the best lunch special in Olds. Quite a bit of tasty food for around $10. Generally three curries, rice, naan, and a salad. They have a fairly extensive menu and everything we've tried has been done well. We have been to this establishment many times before, the food is always good. Came in on a Thursday night, and we're basically told by the waitress if it wasn't for us, they'd be closing and going home. An inconvenience for her. We ordered our food, ( a party of 5 very hungry adults ) and we're told not to order so much food lol. The bowls that the food comes in are quite small, so yes, we had told her twice to just take the order. Mumblings under her breath ensued, which made us uncomfortable. We asked for a second round of beer, and we're told ' when I'm ready!' Again, only people in the place all day. We patiently waited, 10-15 mins later drinks are served. One of the at our table were told to not be so loud by her, but we were not loud at all? By the time supper was over, she told our friend who had 2 beers in almost 2 hours of being there that he could not drive home! By absolutely zero means are we irresponsible adults in any way. It was honestly really offensive. After we were asked to put all our dirty plates, forks, knives etc together we paid the bill. Again, underhanded comments for us to hear as we exited. The food has always been great, but our experience was ruined by the waitress' poor attitude. This is not the first time we have wondered why she interjected herself into people's dinner experiences as much as she does. Friendly and warm waitresses are great, but this is beyond. It's uncomfortable. Not sure if it's worth coming back to deal with the attitude. Too bad.
Love the family style service, your food can be spicy or mild you choose and the naan bread is to die for!
I eat here fairly regularly as I'm local. Food's good, good value. The waitress is a little awkward, but friendly.
Relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the delights of Indian food. I started with fish pankora and I was going to order it again, best ever. Made light and delicate and crispy. Chai tea took a little longer to make but the taste tells all. Over the top and delicious. Other food I tried was with lentils and spices and curries. All excellent as I took an Indian cooking class from Bal Arneson from Vancouver and it was like being in the kitchen with her again.
