My wife and I went to this restaurant for lunch today. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal. I ordered the fish and chips, which were delicious but the portion size was quite small. We had just come back from the south coast where the portions were twice the size. View all feedback.
What P D doesn't like about Wickentree At Housing Units:
I have eaten here many times in the past but I have noticed standards steadily going downhill. My daughter and myself had the full English which has diminished in size considerably. We had two overcooked rashers of bacon. Two very skinny sausages a tiny portion of beans and 1 egg. The hash brown was not homemade but the type you’d get at the supermarket freezer section. The breakfasts here used to be superb but portion sizes have decreased so much and not nicely prepared. The cappachino was lukewarm and the americano served with cold milk. We will not be giving the restaurant any future business unfortunately.
Had Lunch with my friend at the Wicken tree Restaurant in Housing Units 14/11/2023, well if you can call it lunch... We ordered the warm chicken wrap each 1 side order of chips to share which consisted of about twelve chips. The wrap was really poor in size, 1 wrap cut in half, the chicken was cold, when we spoke to the waitress she said it was because it had salad on it that's why it was cold. The chips had been put on one of the plates with the wrap on rather than on a separate plate/dish.. We also had capaccino drinks which because of the 30 minute wait for food were cold by the time our so called meals arrived... The price was £10.50 for the wraps £1.95 a portion of chips, extortionate for what we got... Needless to say myself my friend will never eat there again.
I visited this restaurant a few months ago with my daughter. We opted for afternoon tea, with one being gluten-free for me. At £26.99 per person, the portions were very small, but I was particularly disappointed with mine. I received no wrap, quiche, or stuffing - where were my gluten-free options? I voiced my concerns at the time and requested a refund for my meal. I was reluctant to leave a review, but I see that they are still advertising the same menu. This is unacceptable. Shame on you!
On visiting the store to make some purchases, myself and my Daughter, decided to have some lunch, my Daughter chose soup, which was tomato with vegetables, I chose HOT chicken and bacon wrap, when food arrived soup was Luke warm, HOT chicken wrap was cold, I returned to the counter and explained on menu it says it’s HOT, ok no problem it’s returned to my table HOT. On leaving the restaurant the restaurant Manageress is passing, I thought it might be helpful to give her some feedback, about our experience today, firstly I told her the soup was like some cheap tinned soup that was Luke warm, her response, was that two other people had just told her how lovely it was and she liked it, well that must be ok then.So we moved on to discuss the HOT COLD chicken wrap, I told her it was served COLD, yet on the menu it says it’s served HOT, her response was it will of been HOT, but the lettuce and Cesar sauce will of brought the temperature down to make it cooler, no.it wasn’t cooler, the chicken was like it had had been in the fridge, her response was quite worrying when I think about it, we don’t keep chicken in the fridge. Could you please tell me how you store your chicken prior to serving it in your response. Not a pleasant experience on this occasion and a very condescending response
Pleasant morning shopping in the store and signed up for loyalty card First time visit to the restaurant and looking forward to it, unfortunately downhill after that, Sticky table and waitress cleaned but still not good. Coffee tepid and my wife and I shared the breakfast brunch board, 2 plates and 2 knives and forks. The 2nd plate under the first had never been washed at all and covered in food, similarly a fork was dirty returned to check out desk and items replaced. Returned to table only to find the other fork had baked on food on it, returned to desk and replaced. At no time was an apology offered Food as per coffee was tepid and avocado on toast had a rather unusual flavour. Could have complained about the experience but as I say not once was an apology offered by any staff member and felt any further complaint would have been dismissed Very poor experience as we had heard and read many rave reviews, however a couple on the next table who were regulars said that in the past few weeks they had noticed the standards and the quality had slipped. Happy to say we will be returning to the store but not to the restaurant D T
