Kingfisher - Oldham
Kingfisher
Description
Kingfisher restaurant offers a mixed dining experience. While some guests enjoy the friendly staff and vast selection of drinks, others have faced issues with food quality and service. The venue's location by the canal adds charm, but management and staff training are areas that need improvement. Guests have praised the affordability and variety of meals, including a hot and cold buffet. Despite some setbacks like long waiting times and mixed orders, the restaurant’s efforts to rectify mistakes and accommodate dietary needs have not gone unnoticed. Overall, Kingfisher provides a warm atmosphere and decent value for those willing to overlook some hiccups.

Had a great time food was lovley. Staff were excellent. Pippa and beth served us and were just great. Could not recommend more
Always excellent service, good quality food at a reasonable price, in a beautiful setting... I ordered tapas style dishes so we could nibble and chat
The Kingfisher is a family friend pub offering good value for meals. We visit on a weekly basis as form Monday to Friday daytime you can select classic pub grub of a 2 meals for £10 ideally suiting senior clientele. Portion size is ideal for the pensioner appetite. Fish and chips, scampi, curry and pies are available. For a little more there is a good selection of salads, burgers and delicious grills available. The bar staff are friendly and obliging (our favourites is Pam) who welcome you and remember your drinks which are served with a smile. It’s not fine dining but for a midweek treat it’s ideal without breaking the bank! It can be a little noisy during school holidays as it has a lovely children’s area and an ideal children’s menu. For sunny days there is a lovely sitting area outside with the canal running by. A great cup of coffee and desserts to die for along with a good wine cellar and mocktails and cocktails available. Special themed events take place seasonally. Sunday’s offer a could choice or roasts with a 2 for £12 tempter.
We frequent this restaurant quite often, and this week we have been twice. We enjoy the specials they offer, such as the knockout burger on Thursdays. My partner had a pizza on Wednesday that looked delicious, but I opted for the chorizo and pork stack. I noticed that my meal was missing the onion rings, but I was too shy to mention it. Maybe the staff will see this review and remember next time! We are looking forward to trying the 2 for £12 deal on Sundays and the roast dinner burgers. The staff are always friendly and we have a good time chatting with them. We should start exploring different menu options, like the super salads. My sister-in-law had one today and it looked fantastic. Unfortunately, my fish dish was not as good this time - it was tough and greasy. But since I wasn't the one paying, I can't complain too much. We'll definitely be back soon, but now we need a little break after eating out three times this week!
